This nickname was earned when he was a kid, and skinny as a bean pole. It serves as a reminder to him all of the work he's put in to get to the point he now finds himself, and is his preferred name. i'm sure he doesn't mind if you don't take him seriously...I hope LSU's defense doesn't either. (though no doubt they will)
DMAC is a better RB in every way. Felix Jones is also a better back. I'm not trying to diss Beanie, as these are two first round draft picks that are better, but look at the OLine Wells has been running behind & how dominant they've been through the Big Ten. They are big & will have some success against us, but they won't be able to wear us down like they did against other teams.
i disagree about dmac, but i certainly will not argue about it. but felix too? and arkansas' OL was very good too, and they usually had one more blocker.
1) I don't think it's BB material. He didn't say anything inflammatory. 2) LSU has seen some good to very good backs and one great back this year. The great back torched a beat up defense. LSU has seen faster backs than Chris Wells. They've seen bigger backs than Chris Wells. But they haven't seen him. He has 30 pounds on McFadden and while not as fast as McFadden he is explosive through the hole and packs more punch when he takes on a defender. Dixon is bigger than Wells but is slower and doesn't have Wells quick feet. If the O-Line does their job he'll have a big night. If they don't he won't break 60 yards.
I understand that everyone LOVES to find "bulletin board material", but c'mon, do you blame him??? How do you think you would act if all you heard was people telling you that your team "can't handle the speed" of your opponent over and over and over. You hear it enough times and you would get angry, too. Hell, I'M TIRED of hearing all the pundits say how we're so much faster than OSU and how we'll win big, etc. because frankly, I think all of that butt-kissing plays us up to be served a great big ole sh*t burger.... As for Wells' comments about being able to run on our defense, well, he's right. Down the stretch, teams WERE running the ball on us!!!! I'm SURE the Buckeyes saw lots and LOTS of film on us from the Arkansas game... Probably from the halfway point of the season up until the SECCG, our D-line was thin due to nagging injuries, the season-ending injury to Alexander....I mean, it's NOT like his comments are unfounded....
I'll try to find it but it was on WAFB the other night when Ohio St. was talking about suspending the starting CB. Byrd said it didn't matter to him who played or not because "he doesn't bring anything special to the table".. (referring to Washington I think it was..)...
1. SEC speed is a myth...OSU vs UF National Championship game Jan 07 2. The "vest" is a better coach than CLM I have some more reasons, ya want me to post them all??? I got time...
LSU struggled against teams with elite speed runners. DMAC this year, Brent Schaefer, Felix Jones last year. Wells is more likely to pound away at you, and honestly, I think our D is better geared for that because they are more than likely gonna get in their backfield. It all comes down to whether their QB can make plays to keep us honest, if he plays like Casey Dick, they don't have a chance. If he makes bigs throws then we could be in for a heck of a game.
After reading this thread and thinking about the upcoming game some thoughts come to mind. I don't think Beanie Wells doesn't respect LSU's defense. If the OSU football team has seen any games of LSU I would think it would be the UT and Arkansas games, the last of the season. I really don't expect them to realize just how good or fast we are until the game has started at full speed because seeing a football team on tape doesn't do them justice especially when they are seeing tapes of a banged up LSU team. I expect them to be quite surprised once kickoff happens. I wouldn't want to play LSU in the state of Louisiana much less a national championship game in the Superdome. I wonder how well Beanie Wells will be able to play in this game since he will have to have surgery after this season? Will he be able be take full contact for the whole game especially since that is the way he plays the game? Another thought comes to mind, If MF needs surgery after the season, how well will he be able to play and for how long in this game? There is no way you can compare OSU's QB to Casey Dick, I've seen him play and he is a much better QB than Dick IMHO! Just some thoughts! Man, after reading this thread, Is it gametime yet? I simply can't wait!
