Have to disagree with you on this one. The Irish were always the darlings of the media and the refs. They won more titles and awards than any team ever. Hell even USC benefited from the Irish hype machine when they beat them. How many Heisman winners had played on a losing team other than Paul Hornung?
And I have to add that I was smitten by all the hype when I was a kid until the refs stole our game in South Bend in the 60's.
yeah, the Notre Dame hype machine has always been absolutely insane and out of control a phucking network is devoted to all their home games, for christ's sake that should NEVER happen
Most hated OOC for me: Miami ND USC OU Boise (recently broke into the top 5...like when I first heard of them)
Based on our OOC record, I now consider OOC opponents below me. I disdain them. They are not worthy of my hate. I actually like those quick little ducks. GEAUX
Schedule: ? Ohio State @ Purdue ? LSU vs Western Kentucky ? Texas @ Missouri W Virginia Tech @ Georgia Tech ? Florida @ South Carolina ? Oklahoma BYE ? USC vs Washington ? West Virginia @ Cincinnati ? Penn State vs Nebraska ? Oregon @ Stanford ? Wisconsin @ Minnesota ? Alabama @ Mississippi State
So if Ohio St. Loses and LSU wins, will we overtake them for first place? Regardless the LSU Tigers will have 5 more W's in that Win column this year, so it's only a matter of time. Keep us posted - we all need to pop a bottle of champagne or something when it happens and toast the King of Modern NCAA Football Coaches: Les Miles.
Yes. Ohio State would be at .800. After LSU wins out this year, Les will have an unbelievable .817 winning percentage (76-17) in 7 years at LSU. Compare that to the incredible run Pete Carroll had at USC, the percentage was only slightly better at .828 (101-21). LSU winning their first 6 games next year puts Les at the same .828 percentage. And this would be without the shame of having to vacate the 2005 season and it's victories. So in essence, Carroll only had an .809 winning pct. The first 4 games next season are North Texas, Washington, Idaho and Towson all at home. I suspect the first SEC game is Mississippi State. The 6th game should be our first real test of the season (Auburn or Florida possibly).
I love stats, and you have to figure we played many more good and very good teams during this run when compared to many of those teams. The more stats people post about Miles tenure the more impressed I am. Just think of we would have had good QB PLAY the last 3 seasons.
