1. You're going to see a big anti-BCS backlash if we end up with a scenario where LSU beats Bama in T-town, the voters give them a do-over, and Bama beats LSU for the NC. How do you justify giving the NC to a team without a conference championship and who is 1-1 in the head-to-head matchups, while the other walks away empty-handed?

Whoever wins this game should only get one bite at the apple IMO.

  2. I thought the explanation was pretty clear.

A 13-0 Stanford who beats USC, Oregon, Notre Dame and Arizona State to end it's season, win it's Pac 12 CG will trump a 12-0 Oklahoma State in the final weekend of the BCS polls. Oklahoma State will lose out because it is sitting idly on Dec. 3rd while Stanford is routing Arizona State 51-17.

The only way I see Oklahoma State holding off Stanford is by humiliating every one of it's remaining opponents including Oklahoma. In that case, I don't think you can deny them. But I suspect Oklahoma will give them everything they have and it will come down to the last team with the ball.
  3. The pecking order for the BCS Title game:

    1. Undefeated SEC Champ (13-0)
    2. Undefeated Stanford (13-0)
    3. Undefeated Oklahoma State (12-0)
    4. 1 loss SEC Champ (12-1) LSU or Alabama
    5. Winner of LSU/Bama losing SEC CG (12-1)
    6. Loser of LSU/Bama (11-1)
    7. 1 loss Pac 12 Champ (12-1) Stanford or Oregon
    8. Undefeated Boise State (12-0)
    9. 1 loss Big 12 Champ (11-1) Oklahoma or Oklahoma State
    10. 1 loss ACC Champ (12-1) Clemson or VaTech

I think we're just looking at Oklahoma State and Stanford losing to have a rematch of LSU and Alabama.

The question is how to crown a 12-1 SEC team the champion over a 13-1 SEC team if the loser of the LSU/Bama game goes on to beat the other in the BCS title game? That's crazy.
  4. I think the Harris Poll will be the solution to this problem. They will vote so that the one loss SEC team is third in the final BCS poll. It is clearly unfair for LSU to win in AL and win the SECCG and then allow Bama a "do-over".

This is one reason why they changed the formula, and put in the Harris Poll. To allow humans to solve problems that could not be prepared for by the computers.

Does anyone remember in 03, when we beat GA a second time, and our SOS went down? Why? Because we beat them twice, and they dropped in the rankings.

I believe that the Harris Poll voters will take all of this into consideration.
  5. Well there were always 2 human components, the Harris simply took over for the AP, which parted ways with the BCS.

They did decide to make the human component worth 2/3 of the overall score however, which was significant (it was only worth roughly half before). So you're correct in your assertion that the humans essentially can control the results.
  6. I sure hope LSU and Alabama play twice this year. Alabama needs to be beat twice.
  7. I agree wholeheartedly. From top to bottom, the Big 12 is the best conference in all of America this year.

You just picked a really bad year to not have 12 teams in your conference.
  8. Hey, anyone knows what CLM's record is when the Tigers have 2 weeks or more to prepare right off the bat? I believe we have 2 losses, Penn St and that MNF game against Tenn?
  9. 5-2 in the regular season (lost also to Florida in 08, the 51-21 game)

5-1 of course in bowl games (thank the weather gods for that lone loss)

  10. Just Curious, does this or should this include the beginning of the season like the Oregon game this year. Thank You Very Much!
