much tougher than ariz, west ill, or any of the other weak non-conf you played......

everyone has trouble with teams backing out - we were supposed to have Ga Tech as well as TTech and Mem but they also backed out

There should be a penalty for backing out worse than money.

At any rate, you make our weak schedule sound like we hand picked a cupcake schedule when that is not the case. We should have had two decent teams this year at least. Arizona and Marshall. But Arizona's program went to hell since the contract was signed, and Marshall backed out.

Arizona was a top 10 program when the game was scheduled. Marshall is consistently around the top 25 - 35 teams each year. They pulled out to play a home game on a week night supposedly, but I wonder if it had anything to do with the fact some genius within their athletic department had them playing on the road at Tennessee, at LSU, and at K State in consecutive weeks.

Too bad we don't have any big natural non-conference rivals like you play each year. (The aforementione Memphis and Arky State).

You will find out Saturday why these teams backed out.

Although not having SOS as a separate category this year might help LSU this year, it might not in years to come. IMO the concept makes sense regardless. Any sports fan with a brain should understand this.

I don't have a problem with SOS being part of the equation. However, I still think Margin of Victory (with a cap, of course) would add a good dimension to the system.

I wish they would just come to their senses and start a real playoff system. Then we wouldn't be here talking about things completely out of the Tiger's control like having to for and against things like Washington to beat Washington State so that it hurts USC's SOS and hoping that even if Georgia wins out that Florida will somehow get to be our opponent in the SECCG because if we beat Georgia twice first of all the second win won't count as a quality win and if we beat them we are hurting ourselves by lowering the quality points for a game we already won almost two months ago. We have to root not only for Georgia to win out but also for Florida to come within five BCS spaces on the ladders so that they will be our SECCG opponent because of a head to head win over Georgia. Of course when we beat Florida we lower the Gator's ranking and get the points for the lower ranking rather than the points for how Florida was ranked on the day of the game. Its all stupid and idiotic. Whether we play Florida and get credit for beating them or play Georgia and get no credit for beating them depends on whether Florida beats Florida State convincingly enough to rise within five places of Georgia in the BCS. And then what happens if Tennessee somehow sneaks into the SECCG. Will a win over Tennessee somehow count less if Miami happens to lose another game and lower Tennessee's SOS? LSU didn't even play Miami, Florida State, Washington, Washington State or even Memphis who beat Ole Miss and lowered the Rebels probable standing. LSU didn't play Texas either but if Texas were to lose to A&M it would cheapen Arkansas early season win over the Horns and in turn cheapen an LSU win over the Hogs in the eyes of the BCS. By the same token if Texas Tech were to somehow upset Oklahoma it would increase the value of Arkansas's win over Texas since the Horns beat TT even though Oklahoma blew Texas off the field 65-13. We also have to worry about thing like will South Carolina beat Clemson, another team we didn't play. An SC win over Clemson would increase the value of LSU's win over SC but at the same time would slightly lower the value of Georgia's opening game win over Clemson and slightly lower the value of LSU's win over Georgia.

Does this make any sense to anybody?

Maybe the SOS should only include the 'in conference' games. Teams in the SEC would be rewarded for playing in a tough conference. Teams would not be penalized for other teams patsies.
