Even with the Dan Radakovich AD connection at Georgia Tech, I have a hard time believing that a Georgia Tech vs. LSU matchup will take place next season. Georgia Tech is breaking in a new coach in Paul Johnson and already has two SEC teams on their 2008 schedule in Mississippi State & Georgia. Placing a third SEC team on their schedule (two of them being elite schools in Georgia & LSU), along with their regular conference ACC games, would really be setting the new coach up for immediate failure. JMHO.
Good first post--welcome to the forum. I think you make a good point. I didn't realize they had Miss St scheduled as well. It was more just a shot in the dark than anything. Most people seem to think it's Baylor, but we won't find out for sure for a few more days.
I hope we schedule a good team. Keep in mind we would not have made the NC if we didn't schedule VT and destroy them.
On the flip-side, the Buckeyes played the 88th (or so) toughest schedule out of 119 teams and made it to the big game. So, if you win, you're in. SEC will always be the biggest hurdle. SoS is important, but not as important as winning... Starting out rated in the top 10 helps as well...
That is ultimately the most important thing. On the flip-side, LSU went down hill after the Va Tech game. I know they won and they coasted to victory, but the 1st 30 mins or so of that was physical, physical football. Had they not played Va Tech and played say ULL, I think they beat Arkansas or Kentucky and would still have gotten in with the 1 loss. So it works both ways.
