With 28 bowl games being played between Dec 20 and Jan 4 your scheme would work without any logistical issues. With 2 teams participating in 1 extra bowl game, and 2 teams involved in 2 extra games, no one can claim overload on athletes. School isn't even in session during this period. With the $ucce$$ of the NCAA basketball tourney as a model, I still do not see why people don't jump all over this concept.
Having bowls in college football is all about money, especially the BCS bowls......i wouldn't be surprised if next year there is NO sugar bowl because of what happened with katrina and having a faulty super dome......that would really disappoint me because i always go to the SB no matter who is playing. These BCS bowls generate alot of money, and since katrina i would assume there is a possibility of a corporation would buy the name out. The bowl games bring in revenue from people traveling across the nation to hotels, spas, and resorts giving alot of extra tourist based money to these cities, so i am sure nobody wants to give that up. However, if you add an extra game to BCS bowls, you will still have all the other bowls around them and still generate the same money. The BCS bowls may lose their pagentry, but it is still giving 4 teams a shot for that crystal trophy. Any team can play differently when matched up against another team (Texas could lose to USC, but Bama may be able to beat them because they have a different play style). I like the idea of a BCS plus one because its just another week of looking forward to college football, and honestly who could argue against another week of fun football even if your team isn't playing. BTW i REALLLLLLYYYYYYY hate how fox sports said that USC would have won the championship game 4 years in a row, thats just stupid......
the Sugar Bowl will still be around...probably not in Louisiana but it will still continue to be played.
ya, i figured someone would buy the name of the sugar bowl, wether they would keep it or not is probubly up to them......this won't be the only time this happens tho. I'll just miss not going to the sugar bowl, i've seen some good football in NO. (however one stands out in my mind :crystal: and :helmet
I also remember the Sugar Bowl when West Virginia had like one loss and was arguing that they should have beem playing for the National Title, and Florida beat them like a red-headed step child. I thoroughly enjoyed watching that game :thumb:
