My biggest concern is that they may get into our equipment and put icy hot in our jocks- man, that could really adversely affect the the way we play, sure would kill the crabs though.

Seriously, my biggest concern is a slow start. We've come out flat for too many big games and have not owned the first quarter/half this year like we did last year.

Last year, LSU outscored opponents 136-27 in the first quarter last year. We held 9 of our opponents to zero points in the 1st quarter.

I take a lot of confidence in the fact that we own the Super Dome, and also, like you stated, about being healthy but I'm a little worried about just how healthy we really are cause Miles isn't honest about injuries so I'm anxious to see.

    How is it any different???

Let's say that it was a different situation, there is evidence that we got beat on a play where we blitzed and left a player wide open and also on a play were whe didn't blitz, still got pressure on the qb and left a player wide open to make a key 1st down...The conclusion is that it is not about play calling, it is about player execution.

Great thread with lots of quality discussion.

    Confidences:

Hopefully we are as healthy as we've been all year.

Depth, particularly at the skilled positions.

Home crowd advanatage - need to make it loud.

Defense fired up to win one for Bo.

    Concerns:

Penalties. Got to eliminate the mental pentalties, e.g, false starts, formation penalties, etc.

Slow start. Need to come out smoking and keep it up for 60 minutes.

I expect to see a close game with the outcome still in the balance midway through the 4th quarter.

    Is it Monday yet?

Somehow, I think we will see a very different LSU defense in this game unlike the banged up team towards the end of the season; and Pellini will call a good game. The defense has to play smart as Ohio St. is looking for ways to exploit any overly aggressive defense. Lsutiga made a good point in the sense of how well the defense has recovered from the injuries. If healthy, I think they will perform well.

As for the offense, the slow start seems to be a characteristic of this team.. just makes me wonder if it is a bit reflective of Flynn's demeanor. I hope the NC Championship atmosphere at the SuperDome with all the fans going wild would help to charge up the offense up a notch in the first half. I am not too concerned about the drops as Lafell seemed to have gotten over that. Again the key question is how well healed is Flynn's shoulder. I do hope the offense line can give Flynn some good protection; there is no doubt they would exploit Carnell Stewart with some speedy rushers. I think the key against the Ohio defense is Crowton's play calling in keeping Ohio St. off balance.

My biggest concern is Matt Flynn...Is he healthy enough so that he can throw deep balls???? I have confidence that our wr's will get past OSU's defensive backs, but I'm not sure if Flynn's shoulder has healed enough to make those passes....If he is, I think OSU will have a tough time stopping our offense.

    1) it was only 3rd down in the UK situation
    2) it was 7 yards from the goal line, not 30 yards
    3) Zennon fell down on the play
    4) Woodson QB vs Dick QB

ive got a few more reasons but those are the most important

Yeah well, that's what everyone else (myself, included) thought until Michigan destroyed that theory.

    1) I never said it was 4th down
    2) 7 yard line is easier to blitz since the field is shorter
    3) Don't we all
    4) Good qb's (Woodson) have to be blitzed more often than mediocre qb's (Dick)

That UK play was more important cause it proved to be the game winning td...After the 4th and 10 against Arky, the defense had plenty of other opportunities to make up for it but never did....Of course, there will be different situations, since there's never two identical situations in football...It still comes down to execution.

if you dont understand the problem with not blitzing on that 4th and 10 play against Ark, and have a reasonable explanation for it, you need to explain it to 99.9% of Tigers fan...wait, college football fans...cause your in the minority on this one.

    sorry....im done hijacking this thread

This is my main concern.... I have not followed tOSU this year. Do they have a good return man? I would sure hate to give up chunks of yards or points because of special teams.
