You have to remember the Lions were beaten by Michigan on a play that never should have happened....They should be undefeated...
i hate the bcs, but it sounds like many TF posters think its specifically biased against LSU. LSU is as high as could be expected in both human polls (2/3 of BCS) and could be lower (there are several other one loss teams-all below LSU). it seems like LSU is getting shafted by the computers, but each one is established with formulas that weigh different factors. these formulas evaluate all teams the same. my issue with them is that it seems that playing all good teams has more value than playing several great and several poor teams. while i dont like it, it seems like a reasonable way to evaluate teams. until there is a playoff system including atleast 8 teams where all this is decided on the field, determining which teams play for the NC will SUCK!
Funny how people really pay attention to the BCS if their team is in the running, but just short. I think LSU should be ranked higher, but the loss to a losing season Tennesse is what kills you.
USC didnt win their conf championship game either. should OU have been penalized for being forced to play an extra game. maybe TX should be forced to play ND after the BigXII championship game because it would make someone a lot of money. then, if TX wins, they get to play USC.
Don't get me wrong... I agree a play off system is the "natural order of things". It just struck me as odd that much of the logic you listed above for why the "stars are not aligned" is probably the same logic someone used back in 2003 to explain why things made perfect sense.
Its the REASON media people are giving for voting for Penn St. Because its a feel good story? How does THAT qualify them as a top 3 team?
Exactly...You guys should be bitter about that loss, not the BCS for having Penn State higher. I like you guys and your team and I would like for you guys to rep the SEC in the Rose Bowl, but State was beaten on a play that never should have been ran. That's their only loss that should have been a win. They were screwed. You guys screwed yourself losing...AT HOME, to a horrible UT team. I'm not trying to get things all stirred up, but seriously, you have to take a look at that loss...It's hurting you...BAD.
oregon beat fresno st who looked pretty good Sat. you could argue that fresno is no good-but have a good reputation because of two close losses to good teams, but that is a different arguement. michigan has played UND, Wisc, NW, OhSt, Iowa, PennSt and Minn. You could argue that LSU, to date, has only played 2 teams as good as these (Auburn and Bama). what should be done? the powers that be should just assume that LSU would have beaten teams better than those on the schedule?
That loss plus over half of the teams on our schedule deciding to take a dump. There were a lot of OOC losses by the SEC teams on our schedule. S. Carolina & Kentucky beat some teams on our schedule too. Hopefully Ga Beats Ga Tech, if we win out.
I agree completely, that if LSU beats Tenn, then we're not having this conversation. My complaint is: If sympathy (either for Joe Pa as a legend OR LSU as hurricane victims) is your reason for voting for a football team, your vote should be removed immediately. These people are expected to at least ACT like unbiased voters. If these voters can look right into the camera and tll me they truly feel Penn St. is better than LSU, I'll accept that. But if sympathy is the reason, I don't want ot hear it.
