That is a good rule to live by. I employ this method.

    I live in Baton Rouge....

About a month ago someone broke into my storage room. Stole my trimmer, chainsaw, extension cords, edger, good socket set, miter saw, and gas can. Reported it to EBRPSO and the deputy said, "There's no reason to do a report. You don't have your name carved into the items or serials numbers, so even if we recovered it we can't give it back to you."

In 2010, the alarm went off while I was at work. Alarm company called and said a deputy checked and everything was all clear. Got home and the door literally nearly fell off the hinges when I pushed it. Both TVs were gone and a crowbar was in the middle of the livingroom floor. Fucking deputy didn't even bother to get out of his car. He just saw that the door was closed.

About two weeks ago I was heading to carpool to pick up my kid. Each school zone I passed through had at least three deputies checking inspection stickers of parents leaving carpool.

Moral is that EBRPSO is fucking useless except to harass citizens. Yet another reason we have high crime.
