So after 3 years we are committing NIL money to the basketball program. What have we been waiting on?
Hopefully, the dust to settle. Within the last week I had dinner with some folks that included one of those "IPTAY to Infinity" types. He brought it up and said he was going to start contributing next season. He wanted to see how it played out versus just cutting a check to a kid fresh out from under his mother's skirt. His intent is paid appearances for charity events sponsored by his company: Ronald McDonald House groups and the like. The one thing we can't do is speak of other schools. With everythng, per state, so different it's not a one size fits all. Schools from the same state are using the monies differently; their booster programs differently. Just as another example. There's legislation right now in GA to eliminate state taxes on NIL money. It goes to show the landscape is still changing. I understand those who are sitting back and waiting.
