I’ll take the win, but this wasn’t even a full strength Vandy. Before that outside of a 3 game stretch LSU has been unimpressive with a load of clunkers. Our resume is meh. Fantastic teams are not squarely on 8/9 and sweating the bubble a week ago.

If we tank our first game in the SECT against an underdog, would we still be 8/9 or would we be sweating the bubble again?

I’m pleased about what WW has done relative to LSU standards, but he’s hired to raise the standard. Raising the standard isn’t enough long term. Les Miles accomplished a lot too. Mainieri too.

my standard is make the tourney every year and be near the top of the league, preferably top 4.

i dont ask to teams to be "fantastic", thats a vague and dumb descriptor. i ask them to make the tourney and finish high in the league. also they were not on the bubble a week ago. they were solidly in.

you seem desperate to reduce the sample size. destroying vandy isnt enough for you. try to see the bigger picture more than 2 days out.

again, tell me what you consider to be a successful program at LSU in terms of yearly outcomes. not in terms of struggling in particular games.

he has, massively. he has more wins than any other SEC team since he arrived. kentucky is like 2 games behind. when wade arrived it was a total catastrophe.

 

LSU’s standard before WW was decline NIT invites and suck. WW has raised that standard. Next step is to exceed that standard, but I didn’t see us take a step forward this year. A loss to Vandy would have had us sweating the NCAAT. This is all covered in the article you linked.

WW can have both improved the overall standard and thus far underachieved this year.

the team wade inherited had finished the previous season winning 1 of their final 18. that was 2017. in 2019 wade won the league.

not according to kenpom rankings. computer rankings are better than polls. polls are just votes. computer rankings are based on actual data.

also a season where you have a talented team with a ticket in hand for march is a good season. thats right now.

can you tell me what level of success you expect from LSU basketball to be considered successful, in terms of rank in the league and tournament entry? do you expect to win every year and get a 1 seed? yes? no? why wont you answer? this is the 7th time i ask.

 

I have similar baseline expectations as you. I pointed out some thoughts on remaining milestones, you must have missed that.

I missed your pom-poms after we fell flat on our face against Arkansas. Back at it now that we waxed Vandy.

WW still has a lot to prove because of the adversity standing between him and success. He had the opportunity to take first place this year but fell short despite many opportunities.

The point in hiring WW was to make basketball relevant again. I think I’d give him a B+. That’s respectable. Make a run in the NCAAT and I’ll bump that up.

I like that he has his eyes on the SECT championship. I like that he doesn’t want to peak too early. Talk is cheap, though.
