was a good game. but it seems that sec umping can be equally as bad as sec fb officiating. that three run foul ball for bama was outrageous.

    slive must be proud.

There were actually 3 questionable calls that one inning. I listed them but it takes slo mo replay to actually verify so it's hard to blame umps. All you can ask for is consistency and there were a couple of inconsistent calls:

Bama batter didn't get called for going around on strike three and the LSU batter did.

Bang bang play at first rung us up but called Bama runner safe with replay showing just the opposite.

Umps can get influenced just like everyone else.

how close was the foul ball? it didnt look that close to me. im sure that on tv replay tho, you got to see it more times and better angles.

also, in one of the later innings, the bunt that was laid down and the lsu runner called out at first.... that didnt look that close for him actually being safe.

bama's foul ball was foul by a long shot, and it wasn't close. it was really bad. there was a reason that those fans along the third base line were livid. the fact that it scored three runs was fuel on the fire because AR had already gotten out of the inning with that missed check-swing.

later in the game, bama infielders ran over to the third base line to catch what appeared to be a routine foul ball that dropped into fair territory that the ump called foul. it was a lot closer than that bama "hit" in the first inning, so a tough play to call. but there were at least three calls that were blatantly missed, and another two or three that could have gone either way, and LSU did not get the benefit of a doubt even once -- and we still beat them turds pretty soundly. :geaux:

hopefully that karma comes back to bite bama in the ass today. joey bourgeois really needs a good start, especially if tyler white has his stuff going. he's a pretty tough pitcher. he was a stout reliever last season, if you remember, and has a pretty wicked breaking ball to go along with a power fastball. he has control issues so we need to be aggressive. should be a great game!

I'm a little nervous about Bourgeois. He did not pitch well against Tulane for that 1 inning. Bama has some good hitters.
