5-inning shut-out by starting pitcher Austin Ross (junior, from Shreveport, Louisiana 4A Pitcher of the Year as a high school senior).

In five innings today, he only gave up 3 hits, no walks, no runs, and had 5 Ks. Solid.

This definitely was not Centenary's night. Gave up a ton of errors even on routine plays. Just a dominant offensive effort.

Solid job by Austin Ross as well with his 5-inning shut out.

But yeah, that offensive performance by LSU is one of the Top 4 offensive performances in college baseball so far this season (tied for #3 with George Mason)...

Top Five Offensive Performances so far in 2010
    1. NC State's 32 on LaSalle
    2. Delaware State's 26 on NC Central
    3. LSU's 25 on Centenary
    3. George Mason's 25 on Northwestern
    5. William and Mary's 24 on UMES

Redshirt Senior Matt Gaudet (sat out last season because of injury) leads the LSU team in homers for 2010, already doubling his career home run total as a Tiger! He hit two homers two seasons ago, 2008, as a junior. Before that, he had 26 homers in two seasons at Delgado Community College in New Orleans.

In other college baseball news today:

#1 Texas falls to unranked New Mexico 6-5.

#5 Rice falls to #30 Stanford in Game 1 of a doubleheader, 14-5 and currently trails 5-4 in the 2nd game.

Unranked Pepperdine leads #4 CS Fullerton 4-0 in the top of the 6th.

Edit: sorry, misread the score on the 2nd Rice game.

Today, the 2010 Tiger baseball team scored the most runs of any LSU baseball team since 1999 when LSU defeated Ohio 26-5.
