And just what is that supposed to mean? I've been "out" more than you red. I don't appreciate your belief that academics replaces real world knowledge. When was the last time you visited Africa and seen where a large portion of our taxes are going? When was the last time you stood on a DMZ and stared our enemy in the eye? When was the last time you kissed your wife and children goodbye knowing that there was a good chance you would never see them again? I believe the left wing of this country is the greatest enemy of the state and that belief is based on my first hand experiences all over the world. I know more about this world from experience than you will ever know from reading some damn book red. My understanding on other cultures is based on direct contact, not what I learn from CNN. My opinions are first hand, not based on something I read on some blog. Lower your nose a few degrees my friend, or else a bug may fly up it.
Reagan : Actor/Gov of Cal Bush: Oil/part owner of Tx Rangers/Gov of Tx Clinton: Pimp/Gov of Ark/shady land dealer/ other assorted mob like activities.
Where did this rant come from? Who said anything about academics replacing real world knowledge? Nobody. You had mentioned that "every other self respecting, tax paying, American that I know" was voting for McCain. My "getting out more" comment means that there are a lot of us who are NOT voting for McCain that maybe you haven't met yet. I don't appreciate your belief that because I don't agree with your politics then I'm on welfare and I've no self-respect, don't pay taxes and am not an American. I've worked hard all my life, including contract work for DoD, make very good money, pay taxes, and vote. I don't assume to know what you know, amigo. I wonder why you assume to know what I know. If you imagine that I'm some kind of book gnome who's never been anywhere or done anything you'd be stereotyping me based on no actual knowledge at all. I've been around for 52 years and I speak from much experience. You know a ton of things that I don't, obviously, but I know a ton that you don't know, too. So what is the point? Everybody is an expert in something and an observer in everything else. I haven't spent my life in an library and it is a mistake to imagine that everything I know, I read in a book. It is also a mistake to imagine that 10 years of field experience teaches you everything there is to know. I think something is bothering you that has nothing to do with my simple comment, Salty.
I know 2 people that are voting for Obama...and they both work for the Government. Most of my friends and acquaintences are voting against Obama for the same reasons. He's woefully inexperienced and his views toward dealing with our enemies scares the hell out of us.
I know three people that are voting for McCain . . . and two of them are voting on race alone. Most of mine are voting against McCain because the prospects of a third Bush administration are disasterous in terms of dealing with our friends and our enemies.
I think I am still going to write in Ted...
I actually just spent a week around my North Louisiana redneck relatives and half of them are still undecided. I think a lot of regular folks are. As has been mentioned, neither of them is an ideal candidate and many folks are just falling back on party politics or waiting for one to blunder badly.
I was going to vote for McCain in 2000, cause I watched Bush the younger be gov. of Tx. RNC swift boated McCain in S. Carolina, then in order to become pres., McCain kissed Bushes behind and same with RNC. Sold himself out to become pres. No more respect for McCain. Now he's talking 4 more years of Bush, we can't stand it.
