I never implied that J Vincent was not the best back, just setting the record straight. I expect Vincent to gain several pounds before the end of his career making him stronger and even more difficult to tackle. However, just as Vincent has improved since the South Carolina game, the other running backs should improve as well. It appears that Saban and Fisher have found a potent pattern of substitution.

D Davis seems to have found some extra ability once he became the every down back at Houston. He was always a reserve at LSU unless Toe was injured.

Yeah, I noticed that too! I also love the fact that he asked Saban NOT to redshirt him--he wanted to play. He knew he would be buried behind in the depth chart at RB, yet he wanted to contribute on special teams. His hussle and hardwork has obviously paid off.

He was a reserve at LSU the past 2 years. He was more of a co-starter. Saban hasn't really had a starter at RB till JV took over. Toefield didn't really get many more "touches" the last 2 years when they both were healthy. It's hard to look at the season totals as Toefiled had so much bad luck in his career but Dominick had just under a 1000 yards rushing, had 16 catches out of the backfield which is surprisingly low as Toe only had 5. Addai had 80 carries last year as Saban uses backs in situations just like this year. Remember, DD also returned punts and some kickoffs also. I thought of him as our number one back last year.

i agree with everyone and im sorry if i made some bad posts. it just sounded like everyone was sayin justin was gonna lose his spot. but yes i agree he will have to compete for his job every year. but he will only get a lot better like the other backs. he has a lot of time to improve and get stronger and better. and i know that every year lsu always rotates running backs. and that is good to keep them fresh. but i think if someone is doin really good let him get most of the carries. lsu has many dif styles of running. alley is a power runner, justin is a natural runner with all the tools, and b.e. is kinda like justin but i dont think he is as fast

Saban will continue to play all of his backs, rotating them in and out until he finds a hot hand. Right now, and for the past several games, that hot back has been JV. There have been times that Alley has looked awesome. BE has had some freshman type problems, but has been awesome on special teams. With that kind of effort and being on the field during the game, all of these backs will continue to see some time.

There are days when some guys just don't feel well, or get really banged up, and try to play hurt. They clearly aren't themselves, and someone else has to step it up. These guys have all bought into the TEAM mentality and all want to win. It just keeps getting better.

I always thought of DD as "Mr. Dependable". He always did the job he was given, and did it well. There was just something about Toe that I thought made hime special. I know I have said it here before, but I have always been a big Toefield fan. I just wish he could have had better fortune so we could have seen what might have been. I couldnt be happier for DD, though; its great to see him having the success he deserves.
