I think everyone is overlooking A. Brousard, he has bulldozed over the competition everytime he touches the ball.
Yeah, Barrington tore up the backup La Tech defense, what was I thinking? Of course he is a better running back than Vincent. All JV has done is tear through the UGA, Ole Miss, Arkansas, and Auburn defenses.
Isn't it incredible to have this discussion at all? Depth is a key to championship runs, and just look at the depth that Coach Saban is amassing. I'm forced to call it an arsenal. 2003 has been incredible, and the future only looks brighter. It's great to be a Tiger! And I don't think many of our men will be transferring at all!
Jvincent, you need to read my post above. No one is saying Justin isn't the best we have as he is the only one who has really proven himself, we love him. But God knows you have to have several very good RB's on a roster.
But remember folks, Ou is gonna STUFF our running game! So it ain't really gonna matter WHO is back there. They said it and I believe it! GEAUX TIGERS!!!! LSU, 2003 TEAM OF DESTINY!!!
im just sayin that justin has proved himself and noone needs to talk like someone is going to just come in and take his job the only way is if he gets hurt other then that i dont see anyone taking his spot until he leaves yes lsu has to have depth to win but if jv is tearin it up let him get all the carries i wasnt tryin to say he was the best to ever go through lsu he is one of them and i believe he will be the best by time he leaves he is a gret runner with all the tools and i dont see anyone else at lsu that has all of those things to be a great running back
yellowex and JVincent sound very dedicated to Justin Vincent, but I wonder...Where were they at when Shyrone Carey was outshining Joseph Addai? Where were their cries for freshmen tailbacks when we beat Georgia...Where were you saying that Vincent was the best back on campus, and that it is a shame that he's not starting? Sorry, but I can't remember, either...Which means that this kid stepped up and filled a hole, filled a role, and now you all are proclaiming him a permanent emperor for life...I disagree, TOTALLY, and Nick Saban agrees with me... First and foremost, Alley Broussard and Barrington Edwards have been on campus for about 9-10 months...Vincent has been on campus for coming up over a year and a half... Edwards and Broussard have been through ZERO spring practices...Justin Vincent has been through one... Justin Vincent has had dozens more practice and teaching sessions, team meetings, opportunities to learn the playbook, and opportunities to particpate in team drills with his teammates... Barrington Edwards and Alley Broussard are behind Vincent because they don't have the EXPERIENCE he has. The potential for improvement exists for them in a much higher quantity than it does for Vincent. Vincent is almost through with his second year on campus, and in both of those years, he's had the benefit of extended bowl practices...and Broussard and Edwards are just going through their first. Edwards and Broussard haven't worked with Tommy Moffit in the off-season workouts as of yet. They haven't worked in the off-season "involuntary" (wink, wink) offensive workouts like Vincent has. Knowledge is power, and ignorance is bliss. I'm wondering what combination of the two is behind JVincent's and yellowex's thought patterns on this subject... Nick Saban would disagree with both about how Justin Vincent could lose his job... You see, Nick Saban puts the best 11 football players on the field. To say that Justin Vincent will never lose his job save for injury is a totally speculative on their parts, as they don't know exactly what Vincent will go through in his future. What they also don't know or aren't aware of is how Broussard or Edwards will develop. Vincent may plateau at what is an admittedly already excellent level, and Edwards and Broussard may plateau at their current levels, but I doubt it... I think all will continue to excel and develop...But, I think that Broussard and Edwards have a greater chance for advancement than does Vincent, because they have a LOT of room compared to Justin. Which means that there is no guarantee that Vincent will continue to be on a higher level in comparison to those two. There is no guarantee that LSU's offense won't morph into something that requires different strengths from its running backs. There is no guaranteed starting spot when there is comparable talent, and the talent behind him has plenty of room for improvement and plenty of opportunity to push Vincent for his position. Bowl practice reps...Off-season training...S&C program...Involuntary (wink, wink) workouts...spring practice....spring game...off-season running...S&C program....More involuntary workouts with the offense...fall camp...scrimmages...more fall camp....scrimmages.... I just see that Edwards and Broussard are on the VERY FIRST STEP of this journey towards their second years on campus, and I see Vincent having already went down this entire path... You see why Vincent is starting when you look at the path he has taken, and you see why Edwards and Broussard are backups when you look at their current points on that path Vincent already took... Anyone who says that Vincent is guaranteed the future is a practicing clairvoyant, because to guarantee the future is either to know it, or to be ignorant of the present... As an aside...Will either of you two please post the winning Powerball numbers for next Saturday...I could use it...
TE, great post, loved it. Now hopefully all 3 of these guys will just keep getting better and better and we will figure out a way to use all 3 very effectively, as we pretty much have this year. Justin has earned the right to be our number one running back and it is his job to lose and he might just keep getting better and better. he does appear to have the instincts that the great ones have along with tremendous talent. AB and BE were 2 of the top 5 RB recruits in the nation as they also have tremendous talent and we'll have to wait and see how that translates into playing time and production. JV has actually had only 1 year of practicing with the team as he wasn't allowed to until the Xmas break last year but as you noted he has had a spring practive and the off season workout program and strength training. imagine how strong these other 2 are going to get. We are in a pretty good position with RB's at this time and hopefully we never do waht the WarHens did this year, always need to stay balanced so that we don't waste the talent. How nice would it be to have 2 or 3 backs over a 1000 yards and a QB with over 2000 passing.
