I was clear in my disdain for his pastors comments, when we discussed that here on TF. I am still clear on my disdain for those race bating comments, I dont agree with them and he was wrong to use them in the freaking pulpit of all places. With anything if I am defending Obama or my race, you say I am playing the race card, thats overused. being patriotic is a state of mind, my friend, not symbolism. well maybe it is symbolistic to you, but its not me. I for one have seen patrotism all my life, especially in my family, for my grandfather fought in WWII and was on the beach at normandy as well as one my uncles being a marine. And another a Captain in the Navy, with one of my cousin being in Iraq (he is back now). So, trust me I know what patriotism is all about from my understand and personal experience. Being a muslim doesnt mean you dont love this country, along with the fact that he isnt a muslim.
Don't want to pile on,MM, but tirk is speaking to issues that are important to him. You are on record as being intolerant of Reverend Wright, but that doesn't make the issue disappear. I too have a huge problem with Obama's (and Michelle's) seeming disdain for America. He tries to come across as wanting to change the country he loves for the better, but his words paint him as a 60s dissident with upheaval as a goal. A lot of us can't/won't take that chance.

I am younger than you guys and I dont see a disdain that they have for America. Maybe, their personal experiences have shaped their views, but doesnt mean he loves his country anyless, because he has a different view of how he wants to run it. I know the Wright issue wasnt just going away, I realize that. However, I can forgive him for that and maybe you guys cant, which is understandable. Its justa difference of opinions on the matter and the force behind the material.
