I realize this is a point that really isn't worth discussing...but we haven't ran the toss sweep this year. (I actually went to the point this morning of asking a few just to make sure I was on the right train of thought...one of which works with the staff). Out of the 5 I've asked, I doubt we are wrong...but under the chance we are, what game did we run a toss-sweep? We did run it 2-3 times last year. You are right about why...there is to much speed on the outside for it to be successful in today's time unless it's a severely over matched opponent. You have to add this...remember, Shula runs a pro style offense. Nothing but. There is too much speed in the NFL to run the toss sweep and Shula, to say the least, is stubborn when it comes to the type of O he is going to run. That, is a family trait if you look at his Dad and his coaching style. Ironically, on a different note, you can see a lot of similarities between Don Shula and Mike...probably one of the most evident as of late has been the demeanor on the sidelines. Don, would very seldom *get fired up* at his players when they made mistakes...but when he did, they listened. The same is beginning to manifest itself in Mike's approach with the team.
