Sarcasm? I hope, because they don't. Tigris calling Ritter an alum wasn't true. Shaw is, but doesn't call Alabama games.
That's what I'm saying. It's been a rule in the SEC for as long as I can recall. It may be an NCAA rule as well. Over the last three years the majority of our games have been called by the crews of Ritter, Wagers, Owens, and one other guy whose name is escaping me at the moment. ---- Side note of possible interest: One of the conspiracy theories of the season I've read is the back judge that called the pass interference call when Pitt played Notre Dame was the uncle of one of the Notre Dame players. I don't know if it's true. If there was a top 10 list of the worst calls of the year I'd rank it #1 though.
The nontouchdown for Stanford against Notre Dame in overtime would give it a strong run for #1. Either way you look at it ND benefited from the #1 and #2 worst calls this season.
The Stanford call was one that will be argued for years to come. It's one of those you can see both sides. The ball does cross the line without him being down and yet the whistle was blown before the play ended.
A strong one for the top five wasn't called either. During the FG that Pitt ended up missing there were two ND players on the field with the same number (#7). That would have resulted in a delay of game penalty, five yards, and a re-kick. The breaks of the game as they are...
Stop hijacking this thread, Bammer. In typical delusional Bama fan style you are trying to make a very obvious case of the SEC covering up for Bama into a weak case of potential Notre Dame officials being dirty even before the game is played. Why not start your own thread called Delusional Bama fans complaining about refs favoring Notre Dame...." Oh wait, looks like someone started that a few weeks ago.... MOVE ON
