Moving on...
Tappy, I watched the game against UT. You're right...you guys came out throwing and scored in the second half. We did the same against AU. We've played like opponents with like results, so the bottom line is...LSU and Bama are pretty stinkin good...both of em. - THANK YOU FOR UNDERSTANDING WHAT I WAS TRYING TO SAY! I agree totally... Very similar teams here, and it will be a great matchup.
We're better at some things than Bama is, and vice versa. Whomever is able to play to their strengths better is the team that's gonna win. Passing the ball is not a strength for Bama, and stopping the pass is a strength for LSU. (Yes, I realize the same can be flipped) Our secondary is better than Bama's. Our receivers are better than Bama's. Bama's LBs are better than LSUs. The lines are extremely close. IMO, our QB is better, since he's the #1 QB in the SEC, and Bama's in the SEC too, so...
Our kicking game (all aspects) is better than Bama's. - Yes, I agree with the strengths comment, and pretty much all of the position assessments... One thing to note about the passing vs defending subject... Bama has an excellent run offense, and I can see some weaknesses with your LB's in that situation. Bama is bad with pass protection however, and LSU should be able to get significant pressure with only rushing 4. Will they do that? I have no idea, and am excited to find out... IF they don't then that means they are stacking the box, and going 1on1 with our receivers, and that is another match up I am interested in seeing. I hope AJ can take advantage of that if that is stopping the run. On the other side... LSU is not as good with the run offense, and Bama is very good at stopping the run. Will we have to sell out to do it, will this allow LSU to kill us with the pass, or will this come as a result of LSU going one dimensional from us stopping the run? I don't know, and yet again, I am interested to see how it will turn out.
IN MY OPINION, since there will only be one or two on the field at one time, Bama's RBs are better. We have to be able to stop (contain it). If we don't, we probably won't win. If we do, we probably will win. - Yeah like I said... Will LSU sell out to stop the run? Will that work? If it does, will AJ take what the D gives him? Don't know, we will see...
There ya' go.
