It was Burns. I don't recall if Saban was interested in him while he was in BR as coach, I do know Spurrier has tried to hire him the last two years and wasn't successful. All I've seen of Kitchens was a rumor that started on a Tide forum back the first or second week of Jan. His name came up, as did Applewhite's, when we were still talking to Fisher. On Dabo, the loyalty comes from him convincing Spiller not to transfer and stay at Clemson. Dabo felt he owed CJ the same loyalty. His "situation" at Clemson has more to do with his wife's health situation over the last few years and the impact it has had on his family. (young kids) Honestly, I haven't paid a lot of attn. to the GA situation. If I'm not mistaken, those decisions are made the 1st of July when all the scholly's are renewed/withdrawn. You have to be the first who still considers Middleton "one of the good guys." I'm looking forward to seeing his ability being demostrated with our TE corps. He's got some athletes to work with, no doubt. What's Craig up to now-a-day? I'll ask around about him and get back with you via email or PM.
Since it's been ???? years since your last one. Forgot can't discuss that one with an Auburn fan. Moving on. We are concerned about the Auburn game this season and we should be. Y'all have put together a very good team for quite some time now. But depending on how you look at it you've either succeeded by beating Bama for five straight or go beyond the Bama game and under achieved. You haven't done much of anything with some very talented teams. Keep in mind with all the "dominance" y'all have displayed you've got how many MNC's and how many SECC's? And last time I checked that is the pinnacle that everyone aims to reach. Once you reach it passage of time doesn't take it away. I'd be more concerned about the passage of time "relative" (Sabanism) to when I win my first :crystal: , rather than the passage of time since Bama has won their last one. And since we're on a LSU board and to keep from hijacking their board LSU has won TWO national championships. Now you can piss in the wind and bring up the argument that Bama's won 3, 6, 9 or 12 but either one you pick is still showing you behind. Auburn you're on the
Bama 6/LSU 2/Auburn 1. We've heard. Bama has a right to be proud of their 20th century record, Buzzard, but in the 21st century, Bama is right up there with Arkansas and Ole Miss. Save the swagger for the comeback . . . whenever it comes back.
Don't worry, on slow days the LSU guys love the Auburn-bama cat fights:hihi: I assure you, if we beat bama every year I will be more than happy to forget any MNC. The problem is you guys are so totally obsessed with past MNCs that you can't see the future. LSU won it a couple of years ago but you don't see most LSU fans dwelling on it anymore. They are much more into discussing the outlook for next season as I am. I mean I could come back and say how many Heismans has bama won but we haven't won one in a long time so it's history. You should be proud to have won a lot of MNCs but few people care anymore except bama fans. As far as Saban is concerned, I respect him as a good coach but see no reason to lose any sleep until he proves himself at bama. After all he is 2-3 against Tubs and 0-3 at Jordan-Hare. I was much more concerned ya'll would get Rodriguez or even paul Johnson.
Just my viewpoint. Considering SEC football, I still consider Bama to be an upper tier team. They were there before and they will be there again. But so far this century, honestly, they slipped temporarily into the lower tier. Arkansas, Ole Miss and South Carolina all made their move to replace Bama in the top 6, but ultimately it ain't gonna' happen. Considering off-season strutting and banter with Bammers and Barners, Bama is talking the talk before walking the walk . . . and they ain't back yet. :yelwink2:
Not trying to speak for red but I think you misunderstood what he was trying to say. Red was talking about how many Sec Champ and NC's Bama has won in this century, not if they are considered to be in the top tier because of their coach, program, etc. He was saying you could compare them with Ole Miss and Arkansas as for as how many Sec Champs and NC they've won this century.
sorry red not trying to steal your thunder or anything, just felt like sticking up for ya and saying I got what you were trying to say.:hihi: LSU!
I'm just joking with ya red. Most Bama fans know very well we're not the cat's meow of the SEC and at times not even the cat litter. I'm just a fan and have no input on what the University does or doesn't do. All I can do is pull for my favorite team as you do . But if there is a silver lining (with regards to the state of Bama football and its fans) its we've endured alot and are quite battle tested. Considering the severity of the sanctions we've done quite well (in my opinion). If we didn't strut a bit, talk a bit and throw a little premature swagger around people would begin to think we're headed toward the rational side, and we can't have people begin thinking we Bama fans are rational. That would be a sin. :thumb:
