I believe Terry is right on that. Saban was 1-6 at that time and thinking he might be fired at the end of the season at Miami. It was all done through agents Nick didnt talk directly to anyone at Alabama.
But that was 6 weeks ago, you're telling me someone on behalf of Saban contacted Bama BEFORE they even decided to fire their head coach? Bama hadn't even started their slide at that point. They were 5-3 and just came off that tough loss at Tennessee 16-13. No dice.

yeah im sure the guy huizenga sold his soul for he would fire after 1.5 years then eat 20 mill of a contract and have to hire someone else for the same amount. dude is a smart businessman not a fool. if that other report of 50 mill and 7 mill bonus is true, that sure would raise the bar and pique nickies interest. Actually the meltdown on the Bama boards was a few weeks ago. Right now they are mostly being very realistic.
