Its funny that they do not want any trash talk, but that only applies if you are an outsider. They definetely can not handle the truth about their new coach.

Rivalries is a relative thing that seems to change with the level of competition. Since we play the SEC west every year, every opponent here is somewhat of a rival. However, true rivals change every few years depending on how close the opponents are in talent.

It's so funny. I grew up in New Orleans and Tulane's rivals were LSU. I came to LSU in the 70's and the rivals at the time were Ole Miss and Alabama. Now our main rival is Auburn with Arkansas close behind. With Saban and the expected increase in quality of Bama, I'm sure they will near the top of the rivalry list real soon. If, for some reason, Auburn's level of play were to fall off, our rivalry with them would probably drop as well.

As far as class envy and fan quality is concerned, there will always be the avid opponent at every university that will become unruly (depending on the degree of intoxication) and harass the opponents fans. It's just the luck of the draw where one sits. We get letters to the editor in our local paper praising our fans and dissing our fans. It's the same everywhere probably only accentuated by the degree of passion the fans have for the team (and time of day the game is played ... night games have more jungle juice on board :D ).

And no fan of any other team out there can question the class of our head coach. You won't catch him stomping on the Auburn symbol or smoking cigars on their field. And we know the class of his predacessor because he was here. It will be amusing when Saban starts pulling his screaming at players on national tv antics like he's famous for (even made a pro player cry at Miami). Recruits need to remember this and decide if their ego will tolerate that.

I respectfully disagree. A rivalry is a rivalry even if one team is 0-9 going into the game. There was a thread on "Who do you consider to be our rivalry" or something to that effect. Many still view Ole Miss as a big rivalry. Many of the younger members of our fanbase are growing up with Auburn & Florida standing between us and the SEC Championship Game and Florida between us and the SEC Championship Title.

Personally, though it's not considered a rivalry, I enjoy taking Alabama behind the woodshed since, as a kid, Bryant used to ruin my weekends too dang often. Way back then, when I saw Alabama on the schedule I figured it would be a loss.....Boy how things have changed and thank God. :thumb:

Though I wish we wouldn't play them and they don't belong on the same field with Ma Tigas, it's always fun to remind UL who's their daddy. :hihi:

TideFans is stricter about criticism from guests. On the other hand, TideFans is better than most boards about keeping their own fans from baiting guests. Neither TideFans nor TigerForums permit flaming or smack posts, but we allow more friendly banter than they do. Of course our style can degrade into unfriendly banter very quickly and our mods are kept busy, as well.

Two boards, two styles-- it's no big deal.

Trust me, pal, if you go to any opponent's forum and try to "tell them the truth about their coach", you are asking for trouble. Such posters rarely make double digits around here, I can tell you.

Are y'all just so good at it I don't notice it? The mods here really do the best job around. The only comparison is on the premium boards, but most folk who want to cause trouble won't pay for the privilege to do so.

The only problem I have with Tidefans is the Mods constantly remind everyone publicly that they are very much in charge. Not a dig, but with all the threats, it feels like grade school. There are a few posters over there that I would love to see come over here. Great fans that really understand pride doesn't mean arrogance.

Personally, I'm impressed with what Miles has done. 22-4 in two years is dang impressive.

Soem fans may say "he hasn't won anything". I call BS. The guy has been in the SEC for only two years. His classes have mantained and sometimes surpassed his predecessor.

The only thing one might say is that we'll never know if Miles can rebuild at LSU, but not having to rebuild in the first place is a nice thing to have going for you anyway.

This recruiting class showed that the best players go to the SEC.

Spurrier. Saban. Fulmer. Miles. Meyer. Tuberville. Etc. 4 coaches with National Titles and another with an undefeated season.

The names prove the best coaches are in the SEC.
