Approximately 90 percent of the state’s gross product is derived front the service industry, reports NetState.com. Almost 4 percent of Hawaii’s population is military personnel (47,410), reports To-Hawaii.com based on 2010 U.S. census data. 90>4.....and it ain't even close.
This caught my eye in vball's links... Ranking second in the services sector are government services in support of Army, Air Force, Navy and Marine bases on Oahu. Also included is the operation of public schools. Curious, was that business related to one of the branches of service/defense related? If it's anything like my area you don't find a huge number of military, but a huge number of jobs related to the military (classified as service jobs.)
