at some point you may as well just trust the judgement of people who have had success, because you never really know the intricacies of why they made the decisions they made. one thing i do know for a fact is that saban led LSU to a national championship last year. meaning it will take alot to make me accuse saban of poor coaching, because not only do i not understand football as well as he does, i have zero knowledge of what happens off the field and what he sees in practice and what he has seen in his opponent research. basically i am saying saban has earned my trust. i will not question his decisions until he is no longer a success.
I was trying to read through this thread with an open mind but then when someone posted that had Russell started every game we'd be 3-0 I thought, well, this guy is just too stupid for me to get aggravated over. Watch the games and accept what you see. We could be 3-0 at this point and we could just as easily be 1-2, regardless of which QB started, or regardless of whether the same QB played all 3 games. The Russell I saw today is not ready to lead an SEC team. Neither is Randall, for that matter, but that's the point. LSU does not have a divine right to emerge victorious in every game we play. Once in a while the opponent is going to win. I get tired of the blame game. Analyze and speculate all you want but quit crying like a damn baby.
The bottom line is LSU’s defense played well enough for LSU to win the game yesterday and LSU’s offense is going to continue to struggle against the good teams as long as Saban insists on having a two quarterback system, since both quarterbacks have to split reps in practice and the offense as a whole never gets a chance to develop any continuity, Reality is with all the talent on this LSU team, both on the offensive side and on the defensive side of the football, there is no fricking excuse whatsoever for LSU’s offense to be sputtering so damn badly. Common sense says you choose only one quarterback to be the starter and you give him all the reps, and if one quarterback is a fifth year senior that is just a marginal player by SEC standards, then you go with the more talented player who will be your quarterback of the future. It’s not a very difficult decision to make at all, and it’s not Saban’s fault that Randall turned out to be only a marginal player. I mean if you go with your marginal quarterback, then you better make sure he’s getting as many reps as possible because he’s only marginal and so he needs all the reps he can get, or if you are going with your redshirt freshman who lacks experience but is very talented, then you better make sure he’s getting as many reps as possible because he needs all the experience he can get, but whatever you do, you don’t split the reps between a player who is just marginal and a talented player who lacks experience because that’s just insane. If you do something that stupid, then you are asking to be upset by inferior teams, and you are also letting the rest of your team down who played well enough to win the game yesterday. If one thing was perfectly obvious in yesterday’s game, it was that both quarterbacks played like they were ONLY GETTING HALF THE SNAPS AT PRACTICE, and the offense exhibited very little continuity. Not to also mention that Jimbo Fisher can only prepare half as much for our opponents with having to get two quarterbacks ready each week instead of just one in the same amount of time he is usually getting one quarterback ready to play! While it may sound very good in theory that the offense will be tailored to accentuate each of the two quarterbacks strengths and talents, in actuality with each quarterback getting only half the snaps in practice, it doesn’t work in reality as the OSU game indicated and yesterday’s fiasco in Auburn more than proved, not to mention the effects it must be having on the rest of the offense and the rest of the team as a whole too. Finally, if you deem any this post to be politically incorrect, then politely and kindly point out anything in this assessment that you feel to be inconsistent or incorrect, but please don’t accuse me of not being a true LSU fan because I had the audacity to speak my mind and to point out the obvious.
Some of our players needed the loss to wake them up also. Now, since they know they aren't the same team as last year and aren't invincible maybe they will listen to the coaches, concentrate better and have a little better intensity. :dis:
