The rule is slide??????? Not hardly. And OM got their butts beat. Embarassed. Same as LSU here. I know some of you do not respect me simply because I am a reb. But gentlemen-----this game was not like any LSU game I remember. In my opinion, LSU baseball is still in the top 5.

tell me reb... I know the rule is you have to slide if the catcher has the ball awaiting a play at home since the fielder always has the right of baseline.

But what about if the catcher is attempting to make a play as that one and misses it...the runner had no idea the ball wouldnt be caught. I wasnt sure of this part of the rule.

Yes, hardly. The rule is you have to slide.
Just because the espn "geniuses" didn't say that doesn't mean that it isn't the rule.
That's a stupid rule, but it's the rule. It's not fair that the catcher can block the plate and the runner has to slide. I would run over him too.
Top 5? 42 runs in 4 CWS games? Hardly top 5 material, unless you use the Aaron Brooks top 5 criteria.

Maybe he can inform us about the no call double play at 2nd, since he knows all the rules and we don't know squat.

rich, speaking of double plays...in the first game when we had one out and turned a DP, a run scored but they said only 2 outs. did the 2b miss the base at 2nd or was I drunk? everyone watching with me said there was one out the dp shoulda ended the inning. the announcers never said anything about it.

You were drunk. There were no outs. That is, if i'm thinking about the same play. Was it a hit to 3B and he went to 2nd instead of home?

I remember that play, you weren't drunk ...or were you?? The TV graphic (where the score, inning, and outs are posted) did say 1 out for a few minutes when there was actually 0 outs. Right before the DP was turned the graphic was fixed and the announcer must have seen the 1 out on the screen just like I did and thought that ended the inning. He must have realized the mistake and just never said anything about it.
