Ive got to disagree there. True our rushing game has not been stellar, but it isnt because of the OL. Between the tackles is one of our strengths. They have not blocked as well in the running game as they have in pass protection, but the main problem I have seen in the running game is that our RBs have seemed timid. There have been holes, but Addai just cant seem to hit them. Carey had been improving immensely in this area when he got hurt. From what I have seen from Vincent so far, he looks to have better instincts in hitting the holes, but he never really got a good chance against Florida, only getting 4 carries. Also, Maucks numbers may be a little skewed due to the overall poor performance in the Florida game. Going into that game, he had 10 TDs against 3 INTs- a much better ratio. That UF game was really Maucks only poor performance as a Tiger, and because of that, most all of us have to assume that it was out of character. His stats really werent that bad for the game, outside of the 2 INTs, but one of those was just an outstanding play by Keiwan Ratliff, and the other was a poor dicision late in the game when he was trying to make a desperately needed play. He was trying to make too many plays on his own and lead the team back. He just isnt talented enough to win games by himself. We'll see.
Oh, yeah, and you never answered my question. Where are you coming from that you have to fly, cadillac?
Just to clarify my remark about LSU's O-line.......it was meant in the context of LSU being able to run the ball between the tackles, hence the comment that they would be forced to run the ball outside - a very difficult task against AU's speedy OLB's. IMHO, LSU's offensive front is much better at pass protection than in drive blocking for the run, but it still remains the Achilles Heal of the team. I especially like the matchup of Dansby's speed-rush on the outside of the Whitworth/Niswanger tandem at LT. Not to mention Thomas with the bull rush over the weakside of Ben Wilkerson. If AU places 10 men on LOS in an effort to confuse Mauck's pre-snap read (as they have been doing lately) , it could be a long day for the LSU offense. Likewise, I have similar concerns about AU's O-line. Although they have improved considerably (especially the play of Mark Pera), they are continuing to make small mistakes that could prove costly against a team the caliber of LSU. I guess it depends which AU team shows up. I love the way Saban "gameplanned" for UGA, especially capitalizing on blocked passes by the D-line - wow, talk about a frustrating day for QB Green. Won't work against Campbell though - he doesn't throw very often, and when he does, it's not a low ball flight.
Picking a winner of the LSU/AU game is as good as flipping a coin. It will come down to all the classic sports cliches. But I think the fans and the team will be super stoked for the game since it will be the first SEC night game this year. We are cooking gumbo for this game so I am really looking forward to this game.
Just for the helluvit, I conducted 10 coin flips, figuring that it would be representative enough to provide me with the answer......... ( hey, it's at least gotta be as accurate as the magic eight-ball gadget) Auburn won 5 times and LSU won 5 times. I think we are in the midst of genius!
Thats surpsisingly even, especially considering that the probability of a coin landing on heads or tails isnt really 50/50.
