I do think BG was stupid to violate Russia's law I do not think her punishment fit the crime. I do think it is good she is out of there and back home. I do not think her freedom was worth letting someone of Bout's ilk go free as well. Biden's first duty is to the security of American citizens. He may have done right by Griner, but he did America wrong by releasing Bout. The really sad thing (and this is nothing new) is that any American citizen risks becoming a political pawn by traveling abroad.
Operationally, releasing Bout to Russia was no big deal. Anybody who thinks Russia ceased its terrorist activities because Bout was captured is naive. Anybody who thinks Putin couldn't and didn't find a replacement for Bout is naive. This is exactly why trump didn't exchange Bout for Whelan... Bout is just not as important as Whelan to trump's master, Putin. This exchange was a great deal and a big win for the USA.
Reporters already let the cat out of the bag and then got silenced by the media machine to go along with the narrative. 100% fact, they could have gotten the Marine.
I know you’ll be argumentative here, but I’m genuinely curious how this was a “great deal” and.”big win” for our country
What terrorist activities has Russia committed? They did militarily invade Ukraine but that is not a terrorist activity. When compared to the activities of the US, UK, or Ukrainian governments prior to the invasion the Russians were practically choir boys. The marine was never on the table for the lesbian. The Russians wanted a spy that is held by Germany for the marine who they consider a spy. Their thinking is they swapped a criminal for a criminal.
Biden wants to eliminate “weapons of war” and Dems want to make gun manufacturers liable for murders. This seems like a good trade
