I spent 20 years in the AF and managed to avoid SAC until the very end. We didn't have planes, had radars and satellite systems and SAC didn't know what to do with us. Thank goodness Space Command was formed to rescue us.
I lived in base houseing at KI Sawyer in upper Mich. When them guys would take off one after another, it would just shake the whole place. It was great watching them. First one would just take off, and the rest would dip and pitch in their wake.
