I do. USC's offense is good but not GREAT. Even your own fans admit that it was your inept offense that caused their points and not their offense. Their QB is still in his first year and has struggled some in the last few games with teams that have NO defense at all. I think USC is good but nowhere near great. I would take UGA in a heartbeat over USC.
Auburn posted 405 yards against the #100-ranked rush defense in the country (Miss. State) and they think they are invincible. Against the highly ranked #9 (USC) and #19 (Georgia Tech) rush defenses they averaged 42 yards. Against average rush defenses (Vandy #89, Tennessee #50, Arkansas #55) they averaged 214 yards. The #1-ranked LSU rushing defense is going to slow these guys down considerably
???? Hello??? Have I entered the twighlight zone or something?? I think I recall some of the same chatter about the number 1 defence before last years game too didnt I?? Dont get me wrong, Im not downing your team, or saying that AU has this one in the bag already or anything like that. But I think out of all the threads Ive read about Auburn on this board Ive only heard a handful of posters give us one little "shred" of respect for the way we've turned our season around. Yes we stunk it up the first two games, but guess what, we learned what was wrong with what we were doing and we fixed it. I was one of those fans who kept my lips sealed from all that NC talk, because I KNOW that on any given Saturday ANY team could lose. All of my hopes and expectations for the season were simply to play in the SECCG. And guess what, we've done really well to keep those hopes alive. 5-0 in the conference sounds pretty damn good to me. I do believe that this will be an all out nasty war on Saturday, because both teams are going to want this W really badly. I dont think either team will blow the other one out. And I think the advantage we have this year that we didnt have in 2001 is that we DID screw up those first two games so we have to fight like mad for the rest of the season to stay in contention. The advantage you all have this year is that chip on your shoulder from last years loss. So if you ask me this game is fairly well matched up and its going to be an all out battle. You can rattle off as many blow out numbers as you want to but I just dont think its gonna turn out that way. WAR DAMN EAGLE!!!
Morgan, dahlin' we haven't heard much from you this year. Always like to read your comments. This is a must-win for both teams and fans on both sides are giddy with overconfidence. So be it. I'm looking for a good game between well-matched teams, not a blowout. But I do not fear your running backs. WAR DAMN CORNDOG!!!
Re: ???? The blow out numbers arent because we arent giving you a shred of respect, its just optimism. I think everybody here knows the type of team that Auburn has, and we arent any more or less confident that you guys are. Thats the great thing about SEC football and its fans. Also, if you are going to draw comparisons between this year and last year, you have to note how many starters we were without last year. It isnt the same situation. Im not saying that we will stuff the run all day, I know that we are facing the best running attack we have all year. I also know that we have the best run defense that you guys have faced all year. Something has got to give. We are playing better football at this point in the season than we were last year. Also, we are at almost full strength. I think we have good reason to be optimistic, as do you.
I knew Id be misssed Yes yes, its been a long year. Its my first official year away from the Plains and its been torture. Torture that was only made worse the first two games since I went and married a Bammer during the off season. But yea this game is shaping up to be a future ESPN Classic game!! WAR DAMN EAGLE!!
Re: I knew Id be misssed WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HOW COULD YOU!!!!!!!! BTW, I wouldn't be so quick to keep throwing the #1 defense from last year's game in these guy's faces so much. That was one of those games that come all too rarely and are even more rare occuring twice in a row. I hope I'm wrong, but this is going to be a smash-mouth war and I don't see either team dominating the other...unless AU can't run. If that happens it could get ugly for our guys in orange and blue.
Yea I know, I married the "enemy" but Im slowly trying to convert him. I just threw out the #1 defence thing the one time because I feel like Ive been bombarded with that stat all morning. Im kind of glad that they do have the #1 defence, our team seems to play better when its up against teams that "on paper" are supposed to dominate us. Im even glad they didnt move us up too much in the polls this week. I like it when we get no respect. Its much more fun taking people by surprise. JMHO To tell the truth I felt myself getting worked up over this game just minutes after the MSU game was over. My blood pressure will be through the roof by the time kickoff rolls around. And Im sure it will only get higher once my husband and my mother-in-law start chiming in with their usual anti-Auburn comments. :cuss: Its great though, THIS is what football should be like every week!! WAR DAMN EAGLE!!!
