Lets face it. Even with LSU's newly discovered ability to grind it out on the ground with a mixture of timely passes LSU is unlikely to have another 21 play scoring drive and control the ball for over 41 minutes against Auburn. Both teams have great defenses but I give LSU the edge on D. As great as Vincent and Broussard looked tonight I have to give the ground game edge to Auburn even if Carey is fully recovered. Barring turnovers and stupid penelties LSU will win because Mauck is a better QB than Campbell and LSU has better receivers than Auburn. Its going to be an old fashioned rock 'em, sock 'em SEC defensive battle. LSU's special teams could make the difference, especially if Skyler Green pulls off a big punt return. Special teams, a better passing attack and the home field advantage will be the difference. Also give LSU the coaching edge. The noise in Tiger Stadium is going to make the Georgia game sound like a public library.

    LSU 21
    Auburn 17

    Quoted by AuNuma1,
You're just kidding yourself if you think the Auburn of the USC & GT games is going to show up the lsu game Saturday.

You're also kidding yourself if you think Auburn's D is on the same level as the yardbirds' and UF's...man, get a clue and turn on SportsCenter because Saturday's game sure isn't going to be enjoyable for you if that's your opinion of Auburn's level of play...

    1) we beat MSU as bad as you did, so that's not a valid point
    2) You will be lucky to get a 100 yd rushing game this week
because we haven't had a 100 yd rusher against us all year.

    3) Having said that, JC will have to bring his A game for you
guys to have a chance Saturday.

    3) I give the QB edge to us, you can argue about Campbell all
You want, Matt Mauck came in and won the SEC Championship
game against Tenn 2 years ago.
What Championship game has JC ever one?

    4) Defensively, I also think we have the edge, even if we didn't,
playing at home gives us the edge.

    5) You only scored 10 points against Ark, We average giving about that too really good teams, so in my opinion if we can
score more than 10 points we will win.

BTW If you look at the archives from last week, Yardbird predict:

    LSU 34
    USC 7

    This week

    LSU 21
    Aub 10

I got it right on the money, except for missed extra point

Hmmmmm..... I certainly do hope that the LSU team and coaching staff feel the same way about this as you do.

Methinks, however, that if the truth be know, the one opponent that SEC teams fear most is this Auburn team with a chip on it's shoulder. They've got something to prove right now - and it shows.

Oh and this LSU team doesn't have something to prove. We know we have to knock you guys off to make it to Atlanta. I hope Brandon Jacobs gets into the game and gets absolutely annihilated by Lavalais!

Yes, you may indeed be right. I've already seen a couple of Brandon Jacobs quotes in articles this morning that reference how excited he is to be playing in Baton Rouge next week. He's actually a big fan of LSU. I don't blame him for being excited....you know, the whole "local boy makes good" scenario.

He had a good day yesterday, rolling up a buck eighty after Caddy was icing down. Many of the AU faithful feel Caddy will jump to the draft this year, leaving BJ to compete for the starting position next season. He is definitely a man-child.

BTW - I was impressed with Broussard last night. He has a tremendous athletic talent.

What I meant about that: USC's defense was highly ranked
like ours. and Fla defense played really well against us and
    Arkansas til the 4th quarter.

But u know sometimes we say things out of excitement and
anticipation, I take back what I said about Fla because
    of the 4th quarter yesterday.
I know your D is good, not sure where thier
ranked, but I think we have the edge there, offensively also
    and the games at home.

We haven't had a D this good in my opinion since the
Earthquake game and if I remember right that's the year
Reggie Slack had that tremendous year.
    2 field goals then....

Hey, wouldn't it be somethin if the game ended the same way
    with the same score.
I think its possible but not probable.

hey you want to know the truth, the best defense we've faced is georgia, who is by the way, far better than anyone Auburn has played, and we beat them even with their very very good quarterback. David Greene is the real deal for sure. Auburn is one dimensional, and you're one "unstoppable" (against MSU) dimension plays to our strongest point, number one in the nation in run defense, and dont tell me we havent played any rushers, summers ran for over 250 yards the week before and their defense was 8th in the nation going in(for SC). Auburns running backs will get their yeards but it won't be a lot, ebough to stay in it at first but not for long. We scored 17 against Georgia's D and they werefar better than Auburn's D. that combined with the home field and a more consisten quarterback, gives us the edge, but it will be a good game.

    LSU 28
    Auburn 14
    same as 2001!

UGA is "far better" than Southern Cal? I don't think so.

I'm also still trying to figure out how Mauck is so much better than Campbell . . he leads JC is efficiency by less than 10 points. they have almost identical Completion percentages - JC averages more yards per completions - and they have almost identical TD/INT ratio's . . .

by the way - weren't you guys #1 in the nation in defense last year too? . . ;)
