Ok...before I get to the reply to this post, Tirk...that has got to be the most hilarious signature pic I've seen. Back to the post....amongst my good friends I have had in my years of life, I count 2 AU alums, 2 UF alums, 3 Roll Tides, 1 Sooie Pig, 1 Rebel from Ole Miss, and one Rocky Topper. We are all football fans and support our teams. We NEVER let it get personal and we support each other whenever our teams aren't playing each other. The classlessness that coach Turd-ber-ville has shown over the years to our school, team, and fans has a lot to do with the animosity shown to AU fans. Personally, I hope Auburn loses 3 SEC games, but I don't see it happening, so, that being said, I hope a SEC team does win a National Championship. Georgia lost to Tennessee yesterday, but LSU lost once last year and still won the crystal trophy. If you win the rest of your games, I hope you drum USuCk or OUch in the Orange Bowl. Those two teams and the conferences they represent are by far the two most over rated in the country.
Thanks sphincter (lol) - I did not like the 3 SEC losses comment, but agree about USC and OU. USC is highly overated this year. Some Auburn fans got caught up in the whole aftermath of the USC game where their fans were writing in the papers and talking bout how "nice" we were. Bull - they were just digging it in that they beat the little SEC team. I personally will take any SEC team over them at this point - (wait, let me say "most" SEC teams) - OU is more deserving of #1 than they are...
well, Kimi...I was just being honest. I'd like another shot at UGa. Anyhow, I don't see Auburn losing 3 sec games, so that's a moot point. At this point in time, and I hate to say it, but AU should be #1 based on who they've played and beat...even though you must admit that there was a big element of luck against us. You need the breaks to go your way if you're going to win a NC. Who has OU played so far? ONE team ranked in the top 25? Who has USC played so far? ONE team ranked in the top 25? Get real. The SEC conference schedule is brutal. The PAC 10...the Big 12....7 warm-up games and one game with any real chance of getting beat if you're USC or OU.
That is the argument that the SEC has going for them. We all play each other and knock each other out. There are several years that any of the top 4 SEC teams could have played the so called "national champion" and beaten them. The SEC is brutal, and their is usually a "spoiler" team that ruins the chances of one of the SEC teams getting the crown. (or a stupid BCS system) - So I agree with your "luck" theory. I only hope we have some next week against Arkie. Theu have been known to be a "regular" spoiler team for us!
JMHDAO Most LSU fans will pull for other SEC teams if we can't be in "the race". We are proud of our team and conference. However, Tubby has tarnished Auburn by allowing his players to act up with the cigars, band, stomping the Eye, etc. If Tubby was the coach of Idaho, I'd like to see him fail. He is a classless azzhat. Nothing personal.
i don't hate Auburn any more than Georgia or any other SEC team. I hate them all equally. Except for maybe lefire: they have a "special" spot. LOL I've never been one of these "pull for your conference" guys. I think that is lame as hell. I pull for LSU and LSU only. Unless it helps LSU for some other team to win. I just don't see why you'd want to pull for an opposing team in a conference that is so even from top to bottom, on the basis that "if we can't go I hope the team that beat us does". it's not like they are going to say, " Oh LSu must be pretty decent since they lost to them." On that theory we could say Miss St was pretty good since they are losing to everyone. Screw the other SEC teams, most people with ANY football knowledge KNOW it's the toughest conference. Those that don't are fooling themselves. I will pull for SEC teams when they play Out of Conf teams, sometimes. Depends on who they play. there is no special trophy for the other teams in the SEC if one team does well. The Cyrstal Trophy goes to the school that wins not the SEC.
The hostility for Auburn on the LSU boards is no harsher than the hostility towards LSU on the Auburn boards. A good deal less harsh than some of them. You aren't being honest with yourself. If you lurk an opponents board you are going to hear things you don't like. You have to have a thick skin and just ignore the smack and you can carry on civil discussions with the reasonable locals. Welcome to the football discussions . . . but don't come here and lecture us on our behavior, it won't be tolerated.
Hot damn someone who is making sense! I have never quite understood this conference loyalty BS. Is it wrong to bleed the purple and gold and only care about LSU and it's successes? As far as I am concerned I hope no other SEC schools win any national championships and that LSU is always the most recent NC from the SEC, for instance. I would not get any sense of joy or warm fuzzy feelings in my body is Georgia or Auburn won a national championship. If a team from the west other than LSU is playing in the SEC championship game I don't really give a hoot about who wins the SEC championship - no loyalty to the western division either.
