The best I can liken it to would be third generation money. Those that demand the adulation and have had nothing to do with prosperity. I will always have issues with circumstances that occurred in the Bryant era. The product that was on the field, however, was a marvel. Today we have medicine show salesmen peddling a disparaging message that seemingly must be coupled with devaluation of others. The message to me is that Bama cannot be strong unless others are weak. If strength is derived from others weakness, abuse will follow to maintain position. Those buying that message will cripple your program. Those that are selling it are shortsighted.
The success of other programs around the SEC has to be weighed against the crippling, howbeit self inflicted, of the program at Alabama. What you need to consider is what is read around different forums isn't the nature of, and never was, those that make the decisions about the football program. If strength is truly derived from others weaknesses the abuse that follows should make you quake, no? Seemingly, it would appear that by that statement you think I devalue the success Auburn has on the field. That's simply not the case. "Those that buy that message" have little to do with what happens within our program. The third generation money thing astounds me. Confusion, at it finest.
...Just thought I would chime in then. I hate AU... I hate UT... I REALLY HATE MSU in basketball! lol ...I like LSU, but I hate them this weekend! :thumb:
Oops...ya got me! lol I'll hate them for the next week and a half! ...Then I will like them again--for handing us a trip to Atlanta!
An uneven split favoring Tubby. My definition of owns is one with a winning record vs... Tubby has a winning record vs Saban, that's ownage.
