Exactly. Auburn is developing into a good rivalry. But the Cholly Mac years taught me to despise everything gump.
That's only your perception David. In all the events I've attended this season (since Saban was hired) it has been a reoccurring theme about bringing the program back to where it once was. Now, don't get me wrong. A lot of what you see written focuses on Saban, but when it comes down to what is happening within the program the focus is on the program. Rivals, like yourself, seem to focus on Saban with Bama being an after thought. What sells versus what the story is, are always two different things, no? What public perception is, compared to what we, as supporters of the program know, are two different things as well.
Those that are buying "it" are what concern me. Not competition. Suffice it to say if this were a molting procedure where Bama was renewing itself to deal with a new horizon, the process would palatable. From where I sit, from what I am fed, I see a program not reinventing itself, but one struggling to become a caricature of its past. UT (Which I do loathe), Fl (which I dislike), Ga, LSU, Bama, and the others; none have nor will own the SEC. The margin is too thin. I love the fight. I do not love what is being sold to the rank and file of Bama. Believe it or not, one reason is it is bad for Bama. Very bad.
As an Aubbie, you would not know of having the glory and losing it. Therefore you would not be qualified to comment on it. Besides, Auburn has never won a NC.
Curious. What do you consider the rank and file of Bama? I don't see any of that group under the age of 30. 35, may be a better age group.
They were API at that time. Changed the name to Auburn in 1960. I know that is a technicality, but.....what can I say?
