That's what I am banking on. That's why I wasn't too worried when USC didn't lose early on when they should have. Losing late means you are more than likely out of the running for the NC.

This is the first Auburn game I've seen in nearly two months, and, wow, what a team. They are indeed much better than they were in September, no question.

I'm an LSU fan first, an SEC fan second, and I really want AU to go 12-0.

There is no way--no freaking way--a team goes undefeated in the SEC and doesn't finish in the top two in the country. I haven't looked at it closely, but you have to think AU is going to close the gap on Oklahoma in the computers.

If AU passes OU in the computer rankings after the conference championships, one of the two polls simply has to drop OU to third and give AU the shot at USC that it, at that point, has earned.

If not, I think AP voters in general and southern AP voters in particular need to think long and hard about giving AU the AP title if they roll in the Sugar Bowl and the USC/OU game is less than inspiring.

Besides, three major undefeteds would be yet another stake in the heart of the BCS. Let's hope, if it happens, that it's the one that finally kills it. :thumb:

The problem with the computer polls is Tennessee's loss to Notre Dame (now compounded even worse with Notre Dame losing to Pitt today). Tennessee was very high in the computer polls before that loss. Auburn was projected to be in a slightly better position than OU overall in the computer polls had Tennessee not lost.

Now it will be really close but I think OU will hold off Auburn in enough computer polls that forces Auburn to overtake OU in at least one (maybe both) of the 2 human polls.

Auburn has the advantage the next 2 games in terms of opponents over OU. OU plays Baylor and probably Iowa State or maybe even Nebraska again in their CG.

If Alabama wins tonight over LSU, then Auburn's game vs. Alabama next weekend will be even tougher in both the computer poll's computations and pollster's eyes. A shellacking by Auburn over a #20 ranked Alabama on the road could go a long way to overtaking OU in the human polls, while OU plays a horrible Baylor team.

Not even with uat sporting that #1 defense that they like to keep bragging about?

I think uat is going to put up more of a fight than most people think, definitely more than the leg humpers did.

    Congrats on a great win.

The team reminds me so much of LSU from last year. Great running game, effective special teams, solid kicking, steady QB play, and a relentless D.

Can AU do what LSU did last year and keep up the intensity? Two more games to get the opportunity to play for the ultimate prise!!!!

    I think they will.

I don't think either the Alabama or Tennesse game will be any closer than the Georgia game today.

Keep up the intensity? Auburn's already done that. I guess you forget that LSU lost a regular season game last year and this year Auburn hasn't, God willing.

They go away and change the BCS to take out the computer SOS to 'make it more reflective' of real world. Now, this year you have OU and AU likely going undefeated - but OU will have to beat a probable 4 or 5 loss team in their Championship game, while AU will have to beat a likely top 10 team. If they left the old SOS in from last year does anyone think AU would jump OU by year's end?

I wish I had the old formula to play around with. They just can't win....it's so obvious the BCS is completely broken. Damnit.
