1. But the AP is slanted towards USC and OU from the beginning - they would be acknolwedging they were wrong from the very beginning (USC 1, OU 2 preseason). They will not acknowledge they were wrong.

If OU wins, there will not be enough poll 'switches' (needed 40+ per poll to overtake OU tonight) to overcome the BCS computer polls (who will not care about the margin of victory). If USC wins, then all the pundits will have been 'proven right' in their own minds, no way they'd deprive USC the title - hell, that's why they ranked them #1 preseason to begin with.
  2. I know that if OU wins it is highly likely they will be #1 in the AP. However, to say "no chance in hell" that Aubarn could be the AP #1 in such a scenario is a stretch.
  3. Well technically I agree..there is a chance - in the truest definition of the term. But realistically, they will never do this. Last year just a few coaches voted against LSU because of their infatuation with USC. Do you think the infatuation with AU is great enough to pull them off an Orange Bowl winning USC or OU?

I do not, although I wish it were so. AU is the most deserving team in the nation to play for a title.
  4. After yestersday, OU belongs at the top, followed by Auburn and USC. I'm happy the BCS won't see it that way though. Better luck in 50 years Auburn, and USC is about to get the beat down we've been waiting for.
  5. Now that the regular season is over. I think unless OU lays and egg. They are probably more capeable of thrashing USC than AU. AU secondary does not showme much and that is where I give it to OU. Also believe the OU D line is more dominate.
  6. IMO, I agree with you about OU's D-line being better than Auburn's. But your comment on the secondary is way off. For starters, AU's secondary was not the problem against UT, it was the DE's overpursuing off of the corners. Auburn has the best secondary in the SEC and completely dominated UT 3 of 4 quarters.....check the stats.

Secondly, there's not a single offensively-balanced team (like AU or USC) that wouldn't drool at the opportunity to go up against OU's secondary. It is - by far - the weakest element of OU's entire team and possibly one of the weakest of any team in the top 15. Jason Campbell would light up the OU secondary like a roman candle...... hell, for that matter, so would LSU.

You haven't seen that happen yet because the only top ten team OU has played is Texas, and the Longhorns are far from being recognized a either a balanced or a physical team. But you will see in the Orange Bowl.....trust me, I've watched a ton of OU football this season, and their D can be easily had by a quality team. The key to beating OU is having a decent enough D to hold their offense to less than 28 points and there are many teams that can do that.

  7. Did you see that GREAT STAT in last night's SECCG???!! There were three numbers: 9, 22 and 31 --that's the Auburn, Oklahoma and USC's strength of schedule ranking respectively.
  8. Auburn is getting screwed, plain and simple. And this wont be popular, but tub has shown some class with the way he has handled the controversy. Oklahoma and Texas = overrated. I for one am glad Pitt is in, screw the BCS.
  9. Wouldn't have made any difference what team from the Big Least was going to win that conference and get an automatic bid--they're all over-rated (WVU, BC, PITT, etc.). The talent level, team-wise, is poor.
  10. Pitt has more talent and a better team than anything the big 12 has in the north.
