I couldn't begin to count the times I've rolled my eyes when I've seen comments about the way TT wears his hat and that somehow translates to his character. I do know that one of the primary reasons Cutcliffe left UT was due to his conflict with Taylor and a large majority of that tension was due to recruiting practices. I don't really care for Cut. There's something about his personality that just rubs me the wrong way. That said, if what his story is just happens to be something he's made up? I don't know. I do know that was his contention as to the primary reason he left UT. We'll see how this all ends. One thing no one can discount is Cam's ability as well as him being the integral part of your run last year.
One thing I found interesting when this came to light a few years ago was Hicks living arrangements were questioned by Miriam Segar whose oversight is primarily your women's programs. I assumed it would have come from Sharon Lewis if she was in the same position then as she is now. You are spot on here red...it's the quintessential definition of oversight.
Southeastern Conference Commissioner Mike Slive: NCAA change is in the air - College Football News | FOX Sports on MSN The NCAA's investigation into Auburn's recruitment of the Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Newton apparently continues, though the university hasn't received an official letter of inquiry.
If you can say stuff about Auburn why can't I poke at bama? I will try to find something showing what Emmert said. I didn't take issues with you about the NCAA process although I did link the article above where it is apparent they don't rigidly follow their own process. I accept what you say. What I take issue with is you implied Auburn had received a LOI regarding the Cam Newton investigation. I say they have not. Can you show something that says they have? Deceks links an article above saying they have not received a LOI so why have you even injected the subject of an LOI into the discussion to start with?
WADR, LSUDad .... if you can find a college football recruiter that hasn't alienated (left a few out to dry) a few recruits during their respective tenure, I'll show you a losing program. This includes LSU and any other top 25 program. BTW, this LOIC claim you are referencing ..... when was it?
Interesting article but note the operative word "apparently" when it refers to the "ongoing investigation." Also consider this is a FOX Sports article. They were one of the first to jump on the Cam stuff last Fall only to have egg al over their face later. They still can't bring themselves to let it go. What truthfully amazes me is how long the whole Cam Newton/Auburn story has gone on and on, The FBI investigated, The NCAA investigated. Yet not ONE, I repeat NOT ONE, shred of evidence has been found to implicate Auburn in any wrongdoing. Can anyone name any rules violation on Auburn's part in the Cam case? Yet after over eight months it is still being hashed around.
WADR?????? From the coaches I've talked with, his name comes up more than any. When? You tell me the last time hes gotten someone out of the Dallas area, an thats the time. High School coaches are close, you mess with a couple, word gets around. Its the same here in BTR, some college coaches are not allowed at certain schools.
Did you miss the giant AP logo at the top of the article? Are they also in on this Fox Sports conspiracy against Auburn that you two keep espousing? With all due respect to other posters I suggest locking this thread for now. There have been no further developments in the investigation and the discussion has devolved into a pointless Bama/Auburn p***ing match over NCAA legalities and unsubstantiated claims of comments by NCAA officials.
And how, exactly, would you know this? Are you on the investigation team? Have you ever known the NCAA, or any other entity for that matter, to release bits of evidence that they uncover during an active investigation?
WADR = with all due respect :yelwink2: Dallas? Not sure ... I haven't seen Auburn seriously recruit the Dallas area since Terry Bowden was the HC, and that trend existed long before Taylor was on the AU staff. Auburn prospective recruits from the Dallas Metro area, by year : 2011 - Quentin Saeargent, S, Arlington, TX 2010 - Daryl Williams, OT, Lake Dallas, TX - Dante Lipscomb, RB, Ft. Worth, TX - Dan Noble, DT, Flower Mound, TX 2009 - Ryan Mossakowski, QB, Frisco , TX (who didn't offer this kid?) - Nosa Eguae, DT, Arlington, TX 2008 - Jackson Anderson, TE, Frisco , TX 2007 - none 2006 - Anthony Jones, WR, Arlington, TX 2005 - none 2004 - none 2003 - Thomas Johnson, WR, dallas, TX - Russell Hansbrough, RB, Arlington, TX Eguae (2009) is the only player AU signed and I don't recall anything controversial about his recruitment, nor was Taylor in charge of Eguae's recruitment.
