Here you go: 2004_NCAA_Football _Rules.pdf Per page 19, from the ground to the top of the post has to be at least 30'. I guess we comply.
True, but if the ball sails right over the top of the post the kick is considered good. The ref doesn't have to decide if the ball would have hit the post, the ball just has to sail directly over over it, or inside of it.
A ball directly over the post is no good per NCAA rules. It has to go between the posts which Allbarn's did not do. In fact, it curved after it passed the post and still was not good. But, it doesn't matter that Allbarn won on a kick that was no good. The game is over.
incorrect. if outside the virtual goalpost its no good. As LSUFAN said if its over the post extended to infinity its good. The ref does not judge whether it would bounce in or out.
There's no question the second kick was good. It didn't go over the top of the goalpost so Im not sure why that was even brought up. If the kick was wide it would be obvious to the officials and the hundreds of fans in the south endzone. Check the video for yourself. Link
The second kick??? Auburn only kicked ONE field goal, right?! I thought it looked like it went right over the top, if not just outside, and I, too, wondered at the time if the uprights were a bit shorter that most. At least, both teams got opportunities to kick at the same posts - not like when I play my son in "paper triangle" football, and his thumbz are a lot shorter than mine!
