The problem with Housel is that he is a perfect example of the Peter Principal in action. He rose through the ranks of the SID office until he became the heir apparent to the AD position. Unfortunately, the AD often has to make difficult, unpopular decisions, something a SID never has to engage in. He is an "Auburn Man" through and through, but when it came time for him to have a spine, there just wasn't one. Rather he spent his time railing against AMAB and LSU in his fireside chats. He shouldn't have gone on the trip to Louisville, but he had no choice. His sponsor, Lowder, had pulled the strings so long that Housel wasn't able to see the pending disaster. Tuberville messed it all up by beating AMAB, and Housel was cooked. Unfortunately, Lowder remains and seems destined to destroy the university. He is the guy that needs to fall on his sword, but don't expect it to happen. Lowder has come to believe that Auburn owes its existance to him. He has become more important than the schools accredidation in his mind. LSU is certainly vulnerable to the same situation, as is any large public university (see why Steve Spurrior didn't become our HBC in 87). But so much of the Auburn identity is based on being AMAB's little brother that some have gotten envious, willing only to destroy AMAB. All of it saddens me, because I have two brothers who graduated from Auburn. I really hate the way things have gotten there. GEAUX TIGERS
Haha, I wouldnt call it a hit, Id call it a welcome step forward. Yes, maybe it is a few months late, but better late than never in this situation. I certainly jumped for joy when I heard the news. And Ill keep on hailing MY tigers!! WAR DAMN EAGLE!!
