At this point would anything other than Atlanta and NOLA for NCG be a disappointment?

After reading your post, several things stood out for this team:

Team chemistry came together this year for both offense and defense, even despite the potentially devisive QB situation. Good to know the team is supportive of both QB's.

I think luck has been on the side of this team : because of the shady situation, JL finally got his chance to step in and lead the offense, and hence establish the identity of this offense (the way this team moves the ball and scores is very reminiscent of the 2007 team, and even better). Also, I think the shady incident may even make JJ focus even harder now that he is back on the team, and not taking anything for granted; hopefully he will even be a better QB. The switching of coach K to a QB coach may turn out helping the team better via his focussed attention on the QB's .

I am impressed with the ability of this team in staying focussed, and the want to get even better. And the best of all, they are HUNGRY.:thumb:

I would suggest that all of the things in the first paragraph I quoted being examples of ways our team has been UNlucky. The focus is the main thing, and we're making our own luck.

The biggest string of luck we need down the stretch is to stay as injury-free as possible. That was nearly a killer for us in '07, as we limped (literally) into the SECCG.

My point is that when things seem to look bad, there's always a silver lining somewhere! Things seem to turn out better for this team. Would the offense carry the same identity had the shady incident never happened? Guess we will never know. I agree that ultimately it is up to the team to make things happen.

However we will need all the luck we can get down the road. I trust Miles' stars!

    Bama or LSU

a very good team is going Win that game

a very good team is going down to defeat on Nov 5th

that is just the way it is

    This is a special year

I'm 63 years old (going on 18) graduating from LSU in 1970. I started following LSU via radio in 1957 so I've heard, seen on television, or attended more games than I'd care to count. Through seven games this year, this is without a doubt the most dominant, cohesive, focused, and well coached Tiger team in my lifetime. Even in the three national championship years of 1958, 2003, and 2007, LSU seemed to play to the level of the competition. In each year there were several "heart in your mouth" games that turned out in our favor, but were nerve wracking to the end. No doubt there will be some nail biters this year but so far so good. Reading some of the posts in this thread is really amusing to me. Sure, we will be great next year and remain a national power. But why look past what's happening right now? What can be better than to be number one in polls for the longest time in LSU history? I want to experience at least one more undefeated national championship season like the Barners and the Gumps have had the past two seasons. This is rare air for LSU. I'm enjoying this year's ride for all it's worth. Something in my gut has been reminding me 2003, 2007......and it's time again in 2011. In 2003, an unheralded QB named Matt Mauck led us, in 2007 it was unheralded Matt Flynn. This year it's senior's Jarrett Lee and Jordan Jefferson. Going into this season, I couldn't wait for JL and JJ to graduate after the dismal offense we've had for the past few years. What a great and pleasant surprise to see these guys performing up to SEC level. In retrospect, they needed maturity but thank God CLM replaced Crowton with Krag and Stud. We are not only loaded in talent on the field this year, but we have a loaded coaching staff to match. Thanks CLM, Chief, Stud, Krag, and the rest of the staff for the most fun I can remember in the first two months of the season. I have been waiting 52 weeks for some Birdtiger payback, so I'm not looking beyond this Saturday.

To some of the irrational and unreasonable fans (nvbob is at the top of the list, IMO), "yes".

But honestly, say LSU does lose to Bama in a close, hard-fought game where at the final whistle, the just proved to be the better team on Nov. 5 (I honestly believe these two teams could play 50 times and split wins right down the middle) and Bama then goes undefeated to make it to Atlanta and then the BCS title game.... 11-1 would be our best record in decades with potentially the only blemish being at the hands of a program that is our equal and unfortunately be in the same division.

...having said that, I'll be hurt by a loss to Bama--or anyone else on our schedule, but I would never view it as a "disappointment" if we finished with a single defeat. ....but lets not test it. ;)
