I agree that we should be more talented next year. The only thing i don't think that we can predict is whether or not next years team will have the championship team chemistry and work ethic that this years team does.
Its tough not to have that expectation when the main team that you are competing with for the BCS title is not only in your own conference, but in your on division. A loss to Alabama pretty much seals the deal, whereas if LSU was in the Big12(10, 9? I dunno) North, one loss isn't a world ender.
I agree with loco. It's disappointing not getting to play for the conference title, especially on seasons that you can beat anyone in the East division like a drum.
It was a pleasant surprise the way this team performed this year, with a real chance of getting to the NC game. A far cry from last years' team identity (if any), thanks in a major part to Kragthorpe and JL, but not to belittle the defensive team and staff. The combination of Stud and Krag seems to work very well, despite the sudden switch of Krag's role earlier in the season. I had been concerned about the upcoming Bama game; however, I feel that this team will get to go to the NC game if it is in their destiny. They just have to be at their best, and that's what all fans can ask for. A tad bit of luck wouldn't hurt either. Even if they end up at a BCS Bowl game, I will still be very happy and proud of this special team.
all very well said. and while i have concerns about the bama game, and even arky to an extent (they just always seem to have our number, no matter what), i know that if we dont get to the seccg because of bama, that is the price we pay for playing in the toughest division in the toughest conference in cfb. will i be disappointed? yes. will i throw a hissy fit, scream for clm's head, and in general acted like a spoiled brat? no. this team has done some amazing things. and i dont mean just the w/l record. there were some things happen which could have taken a lot of teams out of it mentally and emotionally. first of all krags. to get hit with the devastating news of his illness just a few weeks before the season and have to reshuffle the cards once was a lot to throw at the team. coaches and players. then the shady's deal. and the ncaa distractions. the booing and non-supportive fans. but everyone, team and coaches, handled it almost flawlessly. this team, coaches and players, are family. they have each others backs and will fight for each other to the end. i love this team for the resolve and the heart they have shown. i have a want for this team, more than anything else, for them to make it to the big game. they are the ones that deserve it. not us. but no matter what, i am very proud of them, for who they have shown themselves to be.
So the next time you are at an ooc game and you chant S-E-C S-E-C throw the word West in there somewhere.
After seeing the potential of this team I would find it hard to not be disappointed if LSU doesn't make it to the BCS title game. That being said, this has been the best,by a wide margin, 7-game start I've seen as an LSU fan. IMO, I would be very surprised by anything else but a NC. LSU's got all the characteristics of a really special team.
I've got my eyes on the prize!! SEC Championship and a shot at a national Championship......but however I would probably be a little dissapointed elsewise....but I would still pull hard and support my tigers!! That's where the program is now ...one of the best in the country year in and year out.....gotta love that!! I do not see it changing anytime soon either!!
