Oswalt, as expected, pitches a gem. 7 ip, 4 hits, and a goose egg.

Lidge gets the save, cuts lead to 1 game. that monday game is looming large on the House of Cards now and today's offday can't be helping that sinking feeling get any better.

    what a race.

astros' face their nemesis in da bravos.

    fri-- clemens vs chuck james

sat--matt albers really gonna start vs lance cormier

    sun--pettitte vs smoltz

roy-o an amazing 54-18 at minute maid with a 2.65 era. bandbox eh martian? you just gotta know how to pitch, something petey and thomas can't do anymore.

3 runs on 3 hits. Must have been timely hits with runners in scoring position. Roy pitched a gem when we needed it most. Geaux Brewers!!

I can't remember a time when the bullpen was totally spent and we needed at least 7+ innings out of Oswalt when he did not deliver....pretty amazing

He officially put himself back in the race for the Cy Young.

    Webb 16-7 2.88
    Oswalt 15-8 2.98

Webb needs to have a bad outing in his last start, and if Oswalt dominates the Cards on Tuesday and gets a W, he will win the Cy Young

As I had planned, Marquis under extreme pressure to perform, with the early W posted by the Stros, is falling apart at the seams

    Milwaukee 4-0 top of 2nd

I like all 3 pitching matchups in the first 3 games of the St. Louis/Milwaukee series....3 crappy ass Cardinal pitchers against 3 good Milwaukee pitchers

Only thing I am concerned with is the horrible Brewer bullpen, if its tough and tight come the late innings, look for another Cardinal comeback

2 on nobody out in top of the 3rd, and LaRussa pulls Marquis

Dammit, I was hoping this was one of those games LaRussa would leave Marquis hanging out to dry and give up 12 earned runs in 5 IP

LaRussa, feeling the pressure, acting like its a must win, comes in with one of his better bullpen guys, Hancock.

Hancock, not doing much better, gives up a double

5-0, men on 2nd and 3rd, nobody out

Tirk, where did u get the news Albers was pitching on Saturday?

I can't see Garner making that more than questionable move

Sampson only threw 27 pitches to get those 8 big outs last nite, so he is on schedule to give us 4-5 innings on Saturday

Sampson has been lights out...throws a lovely sinker than should keep the ball in the ballpark in the ATL

Doug Davis now has 8 runs to work with.

With Capuano and Sheets going the next 2 days against 2 losers from St. Louis (Weaver/Suppan), things are looking quite brite
