Yes, I am more pumped over the prospect of LSU! playing Michigan in the Rose Bowl, than I would over going to the SECCG (this year only). 1. We've never played in the Rose. 2. Mich is the highest rated team out there if we're not in the MNC game. Biggest challenge. That's exciting. Just to hear those words we haven't heard before. LSU - Rose Bowl, Michigan... I would not be stoked to play ND, been there, done that. They're #10 in the BCS, pity the Sugar if they get ND. Pity the Orange if they get Wake, not attractive. This would exceed my wildest expectations after the Auburn and Fla. games!!! Woooooo hooooooooo!
Under the current circumstances (LSU has no chance at the national title), I think I'm more excited about the Rose Bowl, to be honest, especially because we'll be playing #3 Michigan (or USC), and we rarely if ever play those teams. However, if we were in the SEC championship game, AND the reason we were in it was because we had beaten Auburn instead of losing that game, then I think LSU would have an excellent chance of playing for the national title if they would win the SEC championship game, so I think that would be more exciting. Makes sense?
Agreed 'but if we go to the Rose and win, the history books may recognize us as the highest raked SEC team @ the end of the season. Would be nice to take that down the recruiting trail !
I know if we had not lost to Auburn we would be ahead of USc and possibly playing for a National championship:crystal: ! I think I would rather be 11-1 and playing in the Sec Championship! However, I am very excited to be playing Michigan in the Rose bowl.
seccg is stupid, so im biased. as a fan, sec championship means little to me. i want to see the team play hard, well, improve, make big plays and beat top teams. nothing worse than going to a bowl to play a team ranked 20 spots below you (except not going to a bowl, i guess, but not always).
As great and exciting as it is to possibly be playing Michigan in the Rose Bowl Id much rather be in the SECCG. Simply because that would mean we would be in the title hunt. Its a moot point, now its time to take advantage of this situation. LSU is in a position to really show that we are an elite program. Most are talking about how Michigan is the second best team in the country. If LSU can go knock them off that would really show how strong a team we have. It would also be a huge boost for next years preseason rankings.
Think about this. Alabama in the year 1946, was the last SEC team to play in the Rose Bowl. I'd bet most here weren't even alive then. 60 years later another SEC team will go to the Rose Bowl, LSU. This is a once in a lifetime thing. It maybe another 60 years for an SEC team and even so who knows what LSU will be doing by then (hopefully still kicking ass and taking names!) Look, we're simply taking a break from the conference championship game and will resume the regularly scheduled western division ass kicking in 2007. Anyone with me? Boy, I never thought I'd say I wanted something instead of the SECCG. I've always felt the SECCG was our (the south's) title game and it went further than a concocted BCS title game a month later. It means bragging rights in circles that live and die emotionally with their teams. In conclusion, ALL HAIL THE SEC! Seriously, I think the SEC brings in a nice haul of Bowl trophies this year. Just so sowry Tubbs couldn't have gotten himself into the BCS dance
IF LSU is invited to the Rose Bowl, it would be huge in our school's football history. Heck it would be huge for the entire SEC! IF we get Rose, we are playing in the #2 Bowl game in America, behind only the National Championship game. :geauxtige
