I am not really concerned with the hiring process. Bertman has my confidence.

I am very concerned with how the process is going to go down. With the changes at the top of our administration still evolving, this will be a power struggle between TAF, Skip and the BOS. We dont have the strong president in place like we did 5 years ago when Saban was hired. This could turn into a cluster if everyone starts pulling against each other instead of working together.

You know, it seems to us right now like this search is moving quickly, but even the Notre Dame search---which felt like a drawn-out process after Urban turned them down---only lasted 12 days, the same amount of time it took Nick Saban to pull the trigger on the Dolphins offer.

Twelve days from Saturday, December 25 will be January 6.

On second thought, I see why LSU might be interested in wrapping things up as soon as Jan 2. A solid week of searching and interviewing that takes place between an executive search firm that's been on call for days before the 26th and coaches who had their agents contact LSU days before the 26th, so it's not merely a week's worth of interviewing, it's a full, productive week's worth of interviewing.

If rumors are true, LSU has or will have interviewed Bobby Petrino, Les Miles and Jack Del Rio by the end of the day today. That's one a day, on average, and that's just the guys we know about or have heard multiple rumors about interviewing for the job.

Announcing on the second guarantees the maximum amount of publicity, coming on an otherwise dead day for college football news---day after Jan 1st games, day before the Sugar Bowl.

I doubt you'd see a Jan 4 announcement since the news would be drowned out by Orange Bowl hype.

What made ND look so bad is they had only one primary canidate in mind, and when he said no, they looked foolish asking everyone from Touchdown Jesus to Rudy if they would like to coach the Irish. Finally they found a former student.
