It doesn't take two bad hires, just one! You're right islstl, Emmert had the stones to stand up to the Board, and just get the right thing done. Remember the knashing of the teeth after Saban was announced and the Board pretty much had to swallow it. I hope Skip is tough enough to get his man and make the Board accept it. If the Board gets involved I'm afraid the hiring process will get political.

This hire will very well define Bertman's tenure as AD. How he handles it and how he is controlled will be interesting to see.

    worried a little bit, maybe

At this point I trust in Skip. If I start hearing serious talk about Curley Hallmans (Les Miles), Mike Archers (Fisher, Muschamp) or Howard Schnellenbergers (Erickson), then I will get worried. I have no problem w/ a relative unknown if he's got the right stuff ... remember where Tressel came from and look what he's done at (the) Ohio State U. I'm willing to take a look at Hawkins (Boise St), Glenn (Wyoming). I think pursuing an energetic go-getter (Del Rio, Nolan) is preferable to pursuing the tired and worn out (Davis, Erickson). And I think we could do a lot worse than Rich Rodriguez.

I think a lot of Tiger fans would feel that Skip is being up front if he gives something of an "update" instead of a cat-and-mouse game. I know that the fans really don't have a say-so in the process as well as a right being given something of a regular "update". Just a thought.

As well it should. Remember, the last time the politicos got involved w/ LSU
football, we ended up w/ Josh Booty as a starting QB throwing 19 ints. on the way to a 3-8 season. Thanks, but no thanks.

I think that Bertman will have the backing of the TAF and will not get pushed around. Bertman and Saban were a lot like and he will push for a coach with a similar personality as his.

I know that the BoS can flex some muscles, but I think that the TAF is more powerfull with the donations that they bring in. They control the money that will be spent on the new coach and whoever controls the purse strings controls the decisions. Besides, the BoS made some positive news with O'Keefe and they won't want to cancel that out by screwing this up.

There is an old saying that you don't want to be the coach who replaces a legend. You want to be the coach who replaces that coach. I do not envy whoever is hired. Huge expectations and big shoes to fill.

    ISLSTi,

I definately agree that Bertman and TAF are on the same side and the BOS is on the other. I personally support and have full confidence in Skip.
