  1. Utah will hammer pitt which will prove nothing. After watching them many times, I think they can compete with anyone til their depth wears down defense late. Offensively they can keep up due to Alex Smith's efficiency. He almost never throws an interception and that's not something you can really coach. They are legit.
  2. Oh they're legit alright. Solid team with a great offense. I just don't think they're a legit top 5 like the poll asked. And if they're BCS game is against a team from the Big Least, they will win big, thus we will not get a true measure of how good they are.
  3. I ain't buying it for many of the ain't buying it reasons listed above.
  4. No sale here for all the above reasons.

Their OL & DL would be plan ass worn out playing LSU, Auburn, Georgia, etc... for 60 minutes week in and week out.
  5. That will truly be a shame if they end up having to play Pitt. I was hoping to see them play a top ten or maybe even top 15 team. I would love to see them matched up with the following teams:

    Cal
    Texas
    UGA
    Miami
    Louisville
    Vtech
  6. I don't buy it either. If Marshall and Tulane were not considered good enough when they blew teams out then I don't think Utah is either. The only real difference is that Utah gets a lot of TV games and pub from the sports networks. All in all Tulane ran the same basic fast break offense Utah is running now.

Here is an interesting article on other non-BCS schools that went undefeated and were not given the same kind of "respect" Utah is getting this year:

Here are the teams they discuss:
    1984 BYU (13-0)
    1998 Tulane (12-0)
    1999 Marshall (13-0)
    1975 Arizona State (12-0) WAC
1985 Fresno State (11-0-1) Big West
1969 San Diego State (11-0) PCAA
    1969-71 Toledo (35-0) MAC
    1973 Miami (Ohio) (11-0) MAC
  7. islstl, how about doing the same type of analysis with Auburn's schedule relative to Oklahoma and USC's? (Maybe you have already and I missed it?)
