I want the coach making this determination. I’ve heard Raymond, Faulk, Joseph, Davis, even McMahon. Of these, I’d have some concerns if Raymond, and maybe Davis, weren’t retained. The rest haven’t impressed me on the field and if we were to find other guys to recruit the area, I don’t think I’d be near as concerned.

If Aranda were to come in here and clean house, I’d watch his hires, but kinda say, it’s on you big dog. Recruiting is a major component and Aranda, for example, really needs help in that arena. Honestly, I’m hoping the new guy can bring Frank Wilson back.

So whats your issue with Joseph? Since he joined the staff in 2017 Ja’Marr Chase, Justin Jefferson and Terrace Marshall are all in the NFL with Chase & Jefferson as 1st round picks and killing it on the field. In his 1st year, Joseph also contributed to the development of both D J Chark & Russell Gage who are also doing quite well in the NFL. Boutte is sure to follow Chase & Jefferson as a 1st round pick. And the freshmen wide receivers he recruited this past year (Deion Smith, Malik Nabers, Jack Bech, and Brian Thomas) all seem to be developing as expected.

We had to hire a coach to teach him how to coach WRs. I question his credentials. Seems like a pure recruiting hire.

Who are you referring when you state “We had to hire a coach to teach him how to coach”?

Sullivan was with LSU for 2 years. 1st yr. as a consultant and the 2nd year (2018) as passing game coordinator. So are you suggesting that his sole duty as a consultant was to coach Joseph? I guess Sullivan wasn't doing a great job as passing game coordinator as he was dumped after 1 season and replaced with Joe Brady. Even if what you say is correct, then Joesph must have been a star pupil. The overall performance of the wide receivers 2019- now has been very good. And yes, he has also done a great job of recruiting.

Did Brady work with the receivers at all? I’ve heard it was quite a bit.

He’s on staff because of his NOLA ties. Maybe he’s picked up the position and can teach it at a high level, but if it were my choice it wouldn’t be a slam dunk that he stays.

I believe that Brady introduced the “summer of 10,000 catches” (which Joseph brought back this yr.) + some innovative drills with sliding doors etc. These were unique things that Brady came up with that no other college programs were employing. You can’t hold that a against Joseph, but now that he learned from Brady (not Sullivan) you would expect that he keep doing what Brady introduced.

The final word on who stays and who goes should only be made by the new HC. But based upon his recruiting and the performance of the WRs as a group, i would hope he is retained. And given that I think the new HC will be Aranda, I believe he will.

I'm wondering what people think about Jimbo Fisher?

Seems the media has got it in their heads it's either gonna be Fisher or Tucker, with Jimbo the favorite, at least today. "Jimbo always lurking in the background" one said today.

Fisher is the oldest at 56. of most of the coaches mentioned. Not really old, but not young or energetic either. I don't think he's a bad coach, but hope like hell we don't give him $11M-$13M to come to LSU. I don't think he's a great coach either. Not bad, but not great. He'd likely bring much needed stability & maybe 9-3 seasons, give or take.
    .
IMO, his best coaching days, much like 59 year old Kim Mulkey, are probably behind them. To me, he'll always be an FSU coach & Mulkey will always be the Baylor Basketball lady from Louisiana. This is why I think a younger coach could really make LSU his own. Jimbo - FSU, A&M & maybe LSU?

Am I wrong about Capt. Crab Claws? Will he set the college football world on fire with his Super-bubble-screen brand of football at LSU?

I'm joking of course, but if Jimbo is the pick, to me, it's kind of a "meh" pick. Definately an upgrade over O, but sort of a curbed enthusiasm type candidate, imo.

I will support him as HC, or whoever is named for that matter, just wondering what everyone thinks about Jimbo possibly coming to coach at LSU?

I would be very surprised if it’s Jimbo. Too many $ people at LSU got pissed at how he and Sexton played LSU . Plus what would that be telling ATM? ‘It’s been nice but you guys are dorks.’
