Are we rooting for or against Mel Tucker tomorrow against Michigan?

The Horns have become the best at executing the quick hook and finding the next "Soon-to-be-XHead Coach of Texas". They have lots of wealthy alumni many of whom believe $$ makes them empowered and qualified to be the co-athletic director of football operations. The HC and AD end up spending time and assets keeping the money men happy which ironically degrades their ability to produce the results so desperately desired. Someone (could have been Carroll Shelby) once said "committees don't build great cars". Committees also don't' build great football teams. You have to pick your leader then get out of the way and give him time to execute his vision. Neither of their last two coaches made it to their 40th game. Not a good formula for building and maintaining success.

UTexas is one of the very few programs comparable to LSU in $$, facilities, and access to talent. Lot of valuable lessons, paid for by UT alums, can be learned by looking west. Lets learn that lesson. When someone puts up 17MM to buy out O's contract Woodward's biggest and toughest job is saying "Thank You, I'll take it from here". Good luck

I’m hearing next years roster not exactly awe inspiring. Wasn’t Baby Huey sole quality supposed to be recruiting ? O line depth is dog shit and I’m not that impressed with many other areas I’ve seen in younger players either .
I guess he quit as a recruiter as well.
In my darker moments I sometimes wonder if this ass Clown was even worth it for ‘19 season .
We made a deal with the devil of almost Faustian proportions.

LSU was just like Texas until Saban came and said "NO I will make the decisions". He put a stop to the meddling we saw in the 80's/90's because boosters had money and thought they had a voice. Big nose Joe started to bring that back but I think Woodward has stopped the bleeding and we will be o.k. Look at Jerry Jones, just because you can make money doesn't mean you can run a football team. When he stayed out of it Jimmy won, then Jerry took over and you know the story.

 

We aren't talking about some washed up old dude that has been drinking beer on his back porch for the last few years. We are talking about probably one of the best if not the best DB coach in CFB. It really doesn't matter who the new coach is, if they run those guys off because "they weren't his hires" it would go down as one of the greatest fuck ups in the history of fuck ups. He wants a new DC, OC, Strength guy, waterboy whatever that is fine. When it comes to the recruiting ties, the local relationships and the amount of talent that has gone to the NFL you would be a special kind of idiot to fire those guys.
