Fantastic post. Really summarizes/expresses my setiments and concerns.

Overall, I would say wheels are not falling off, nor do I think CLM will let them. He strikes me as a man who will pull up his boot straps and work harder to fix things. If he is ever let go, it will not be b/c the "wheels come off", it will be b/c of loyalty to asst's and gradual decline in performance/expectations. I do agree with your observations and concerns, and I'll bet we are in the majority on that. But, I think we just need to take a deep breath, sit back, and let the circumstances unfold - and, I'll bet we will be pleasantly surprised by the progress over the next 2 years. The other "problem", if you will, with CLM is that he is not a quick fixer, much to the dismay to those with little patience. He makes changes slowly and then allows those changes to seed and blossom before he contemplates other changes. It's probably a better way to long-term solutions, but not satisfying to the masses.

Close. The first was in 2001, so the window would be the seven seasons from 2001-2007.

I agree, though we only won 8 games in 2008.

using only the SEC as a reference, decline of top programs is usually tied to coaching changes---UF (spurrier), UT (cutcliffe), UGA (van gorder), AU (borges). but this doesnt seem to be the issue since lsu won with gc in 07. we hope that wasnt an anomaly. personally, i dont think positive anomalies happen. an idiot cant accidently be brilliant, but the converse is true

I agree. The 2011 recruiting class is comprised of some studs. Kenny Hilliard is going to be a HOSS. Terrance Mcgee, Freak Johnson....the 2011 recruiting class is definitely a silver lining to the dark cloud....for now.

Now if we can just keep these guys committed to LSU....

    I voted no.

327 makes some good points but this discussion is one year too soon.

this is what I'm aiming for. I don't think the wheels are falling off, but I can understand most fans' concerns. But jumping the gun because of Bama fans... C'mon CS, you can do better.:hihi:

How about a little civility? If you two are going to quarrel, exchange email addresses and do it somewhere else. Last time I looked, this is the United States of America, and people are entitled to their opinion. Just keep it civil, huh?

Just a lil' friendly ribbing is all. I don't need no smiley for most of the regulars to know it's all good.:)
