This is a very good point. It also seems like the plays that they have relegated to certain players are like the square peg in round hole thing. (ie. Lee running the option) Hopefully with Gonzales on board that may get corrected and we might have a coach that can actually coach a QB. The more I think about this year the more it seems as though we are walking a tight rope one way is a dreadful finish (like some of the 6-6 people are talking about on here) and the other way is righting the ship and maybe a trip to Atlanta. Should be interesting to say the least.
Id honestly LOVE nothing more than to eat a ton of crow. Id be the first in line to take my crow. After two years of underachieving and poor coaching Im just not so confident. Had we seen improvements, I could accept the losses, but we didnt. I just think Miles has lost his touch here at LSU. The talent is here, but we need to get back to coaching up. I like Miles as a person. Id love for him to succeed. I just feel his time has run its course here. This is the year for him to prove himself. His back is against the wall, as is the team. Id love to see him come out swinging like the old Miles. Not trying to outcoach his opponents. I can accept some losses as long as there is improvements. As long as we seem a team bring an A game more than just once. I dont want to see a team struggling in every game.
I meant that on both sides of the fence. Being one of the sunshine pumpers, for the most part, I might and will be one of the first to step up to my plate should we not show signs of improving and the wheels have fallen off.
and i'll cook it for you because i will be eating a big helping also. i want to believe and keep an optimistic outlook. yes, i am concerened. especially that not being able to get rid of crow is gonna bite us in the butt. but right now i want to believe that the changes miles was able to make will work. if not.... fried? stewed? sauce piquante?
I want to say that I dont think the wheels are about to fall off by any means. LSU is still a solid program. Its just weve fallen from elite. If we want to stay at the top things must change quickly or the top out of state kids might not look quite as hard at LSU. Although LSU was built up with home grown, La talent.
Almost half think the wheels either are or may be falling off the program. Wow. I wonder what the results of the same poll would be if Pitt hadn't beaten WV in 2007?
I hope you guys don't mind that I jump into this family discussion, but I just want to say ... don't take losing Marsh too hard. He's emotionally weak and a true momma's boy ... that's why we stopped recruiting him 8 months ago. Kid got homesick going to San Antonio for a week instead of having the time of his life. He never would have fit in in BR, IMO. And no, the wheels aren't falling off. The Ferrari just needs a tune-up.
Good post Hector, sometimes looking at the program from the outside gives more objectivity. By the way Hector, I go read on your site sometimes, seem a few of your fans could use some objectivity regarding the USC program at times also!
